Mac users can now experience the vibrant character driven story of Pyre

Part arena sports, part story-driven couch party, Pyre is a game that has few if any parallels with titles you have experienced before. And now Mac users, in what is becoming a respectable library for non-Windows users, can experience the same stellar gameplay from the developers of Bastion and Transistor.

It’s no secret that Mac users (and their setups) are not typically geared towards more graphically intense games out there (I’m looking at you Witcher 3 and Battlefield 1). Steam, extending the digital olive branch to gamers regardless of how ridiculous their beards look, is doing an admirable job thus far of giving Mac users a chance to partake.

While Mac titles through digital stores such as Steam have been releasing what are single player games (X-Com 2 and Slime Rancher for example), the recent trend seems to be towards the online multiplayer arena with titles such as The Elder Scrolls Online and Counter Strike-Strike: Global Offensive breaking through to untapped demographics.

What does this mean for gaming in the coming years? Well, for starters, it has the potential to bridge the gap between the “PC Master Race” and those who simply are not. Additionally, players who have found themselves partial to the Mac’s unique user interface may no longer have to choose one or the other.

Regardless of the implications, the recent trend towards accessibility on multiple platforms in the non-console world bodes well as this could lead to more diversity and tailoring towards specific types of computers as well as the preferences of those who use them.
