The history of the earth in the ancient past and the prehistoric life that roamed it is a fascinating topic. Paleontologists spend years searching for valuable fossils and piecing together the rise and fall of prehistoric life.

Dinosaurs, specifically, are a popular subject among many of the world’s inhabitants. The idea of a giant, lizard-like predator is something that people find fascinating.

In ‘Dinosaur Fossil Hunter’ players take on the role of a paleontologist that is just starting out in their career.

Players must explore the land that is based on the geography of the United States to find potential fossil sites, driving offroad vehicles across all sorts of rough terrain. These sites can be investigated using specialized scanners and equipment to search for fossils.

Once a fossil site has been identified, players must use a range of different paleontology equipment to carefully unearth the fossils without damaging them. Some jobs might require a shovel, a pick, a trough, or even a brush to gently brush away the dirt directly surrounding the fossil.

As players search for and discover fossils, they will learn all sorts of interesting facts about the fossils, their history, and the dinosaurs from which they came. According to its developers, ‘Dinosaur Fossil Hunter’ boasts an “intriguing storyline.”

Fossils that players have safely removed from the ground must then be cleaned and put together in preparation for displaying them in the player’s own dinosaur museum. Players are able to customize their museum, picking the layout, plants, soil, displays, and a whole range of other small details that will allow players to create a completely personalized museum.

The goal is to become a world-renowned paleontologist and build a museum for fossils and prehistoric life unlike any the world has ever seen before.

‘Dinosaur Fossil Hunter’ is developed by ‘Pyramid Games,’ and is currently available on Steam as a beta playtest.
