The Best Wrestlers of 2017

Wrestling is an industry where a lot happens and many people come and try to make a name for themselves, but the one thing that all the fans remember at the end of the day is a good wrestler. Judging a wrestler and categorizing him/her as “good” or “bad”, one has to take many things into consideration, like in-ring ability, mic skills, gimmick, and so on. Today we have a list of top ten wrestlers of the year so far.

11) Cesaro & Sheamus

The dynamic duo making their presence felt…

Starting out strong, we have one of the most aggressive tag teams, Cesaro and Sheamus. Ever since these two came together, they have revolutionized the tag team competition. They even won the WWE Raw Tag Team titles from the New Day.

Cesaro and Sheamus, as individuals too, are extremely over with the crowd and manage to put on a great show every single night. Their wrestling style is extremely aggressive, which all the fans have fallen in love with.

10) Pete Dunne

Pete Dunne making his way to the ring…

Pete Dunne is one of the best heels in the industry at the moment. He’s arguably the pinnacle of British Wrestling. He never backs down on throwing down some big moves and take risks just to put on a great show.

Pete, along with Trent Seven and Tyler Bate are teammates in a heel group known as the British Strong Style. It will definitely be a great for him, as well as for the fans, if WWE were to bring him in Raw or Smackdown Live.

9) Tye Dillinger

Tye’s perfect 10 entrance…

The Perfect 10 made his debut in the WWE Main Roster on this year’s Royal Rumble, as a surprise entrant in spot 10. He later made his debut in Smackdown Live and has been on fire ever since.

His charisma and perfect character makes everyone in the arena chant 10 during his entrance. Tye is a truly talented wrestler and certainly knows how to cut a promo. As fans, we hope that it’s not long till he’s in the Main Event picture.

8) Bobby Roode

Bobby Roode’s glorious entrance…

Bobby Roode, one of the most well established superstars of Total Nonstop Action, joined WWE NXT, on 2016. His theme song, Glorious Domination, was very well received by the fans and he became very popular for it.

Most of the fans know Roode for his Glorious entrance, but his wrestling abilities and mic skills are no less than Glorious. He won the NXT championship on January 28, 2017 from Shinsuke Nakamura, becoming the oldest NXT champion in history.

7) Asuka

Asuka during her entrance at NXT…

Onto the first women wrestler, Asuka has been dominating the NXT Women’s division from a long time. On April 1 at NXT TakeOver: Dallas, Asuka defeated Bayley to win the NXT Women's Championship for the first time.

In early February, Asuka became the longest reigning singles champion in NXT history, male or female. The streak was eventually billed as the "longest undefeated streak in WWE history".

6) Charlotte Flair

The queen making her ring to the squared circle…

Charlotte Flair, ever since arriving in the main roster of the WWE’s Women Division, has made quite an impact. She made her debut in WWE Raw, and showed us why she isn’t foreshadowed by her father, Ric Flair’s records.

Charlotte feuded with Sasha Banks for quite a long time, where the Women’s title changed hands a number of times. Later in 2017, she was traded to Smackdown Live during the Superstar Shakeup, where she has been playing a very important role as a babyface.

5) Roman Reigns

The big dog making his presence felt…

Love him or hate him, you’ve got to admit that Roman has made quite a name for himself in the WWE, including defeating the Undertaker, headlining the main event of Wrestlemania 3 years in a row, and many more.

Ever since The Shield broke up, it has been quite obvious that WWE has many big plans for Roman. Though he’s a babyface, the amount of boos he gets is far more than any of the bad guys get, and he seems to embrace it!

4) Shinsuke Nakamura

The king of strong style making his way to the ring…

Shinsuke is one of the most respected and charismatic wrestlers from New Japan Pro Wrestling, who made his way to WWE NXT. His amazing in-ring ability helped him win the NXT championship not once, but twice.

His lack of promos due to not being very familiar with English Language has not kept him from greatness though, as his great wrestling style and catchy entrance theme certainly make up for it. He made his debut in Smackdown Live this year and has been putting on great shows ever since.

3) Kevin Owens

KO with the US title around his waist…

Kevin Owens is one of the finest heels the industry has ever seen. Ever since he made his way to the main roster of WWE, he has been engaged in great feuds including John Cena, Sami Zayn, Seth Rollins and Chris Jericho. He also won the Universal Title during the process.

He also played as the best friend of Chris Jericho for a significant part of 2016-17, only to stab him in the back. Owens is very talented in the ring, and his heelish tactics back it up. In the 2017 Superstar Shakeup, he was traded to Smackdown Live as the United States Champ.

2) AJ Styles

The phenomenal one with the WWE title around his waist…

Styles made his debut in 2016’s WWE Royal Rumble match, as a surprise entrant, and boy has he made an impact. He went on to feud with some of the best the company has to offer including Chris Jericho, Roman Regins, John Cena, and Dean Ambrose. In what was nothing less than a Match Of The Year contender, he defeated John Cena in 2016 Summerslam, which totally changed his position in the company.

He went on to feud with Dean Ambrose, winning his first WWE Championship in the process. He kept putting on great shows day in and day out. He also got his first Wrestlemania victory over Shane McMahon this year. His excellent in-ring abilities and confidence over the mic truly earns him the title of the “Phenomenal One”.

1) Chris Jericho

The greatest of all time, Chris Jericho returning to wrestling after a long time…

Chris Jericho had, perhaps, one of the best WWE runs in 2016-17, winning the US championship and feuding with the likes of Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns, AJ Styles and others. It is no secret that Jericho is the best at what he does, but this time around, he actually proved it once again.

His hilarious gimmick of outing everyone on “The List of Jericho” was entertaining enough to win over the crowd. He spent a majority of his time as Kevin Owen’s best friend, ending the act as Owens stabbed him in the back. Jericho lost his US championship to KO before ending his run.
