1. The Way Home

Players will circle their way back home…

After defeating all the Star Team leaders and completing Arven’s Legendary Quests, players will unlock access to The Way Home!!!

  • Await for a call from Arven to begin this spectacular journey of Area Zero.
  • After completing the call, he will send you directions to Area Zero (northwest edge of the Great Crater of Paldea)
  • Nemoni and Penny will be awaiting you there and shortly after the professor will encourage you to go further in Area Zero’s caverns.
  • Once you approach the gate, the professor will call again and this signals a mass of Pokemon that you will have to defeat alongside Nemona, Penny and Arven.
  • In order to stop the time machine that the professor created, you will have to place the book on the pedestal and get ready to battle the professor!
  • Unfortunately this isn't the last step for completing The Way Home as players will next have to battle against Koraidon/Moraidon. This battle is tricky as your Pokemon Balls will be locked and so you will have to summon your Koraidon to win the fight!

2. Get a Master Ball from Director Clavell

May the force be with you, padawan.

After completing the main story, the credits will roll, but that is not where your journey ends. Players will wake up in their dorm room and be summoned to Director Clavell’s office. Once there, you will go through a series of dialogue before obtaining the Master Ball. This item is such a great reward for all your hard work. Check out some of a few reasons this is such an awesome bonus!

  • This ball allows you to catch any wild Pokemon at 100% success rate.
  • This ball is best used for catching a shiny or rare Pokemon that knows explosion or a recoil move. This is a great ball for never missing out on a Pokemon that is highly desired.

3. Rechallenge the Gym Leaders and Team Star in Paldea

Image
Body Image

This time around, the gym leaders are amped up and ready for a challenge.

Rebattling all the gymleaders is such a great way to gain XP, lots of money and continue hours of fun!

  • After you have beaten the game, players will have the chance to battle all the gym leaders again. Get ready as it won’t be as easy to beat the second time around.
  • Once you have taken down all the gym leaders, you will unlock the Academy Ace Tournament. Post game is the best time to train your best Pokemon for the fight!

4. Get your Pokemon ready for the Ace Academy Tournament!!!

Image
Body Image

Let’s get this party started…

The Ace Academy is unlocked once players have finished all of the base game storylines, and was created for the most impressive of players!!! This can seem a bit daunting, but through EV training, various items and resources throughout the game, you can rule this school!

This is a fun and challenging post-game tournament that keeps the main story at heart, as it features some of the toughest gym leaders and trainers! If you ever run out of money or need to quickly gain XP– check out the Ace Academy Tournament.

The Ace Academy Tournament brings back some of the toughest of opponents while your Pokemon gain massive amounts of XP to defeat some of the post-game missions like catching the Loyal Three and completing Mochi Mayhem.

  • Competing in the Ace Academy Tournament is a fun and competitive post-game challenge. It’s sure to keep players intrigued as they can come up with new strategies to win against players competitively.
  • Complete the Ace Academy Tournament at least once to unlock the ability to compete in 5 and 6 star raids!!! (You will still have to complete the 2, 3, and 4 star raids if you haven’t completed them yet.)
  • When you’re tired of defeating Pokemon in the wild, check out the Ace Academy to mix things up!
  • This is a great way to keep the post-game fun and challenging.
  • Complete the Ace Academy Tournament at least once to unlock the ability to compete in 5 and 6 star raids!!!

5. Try Your Hand at 5 and 6 Star Raids

Image
Body Image

Are you up to the challenge of 6 star raids?

These raids are a great way to gain XP, play with friends and reap some cool rewards. They are tough to beat but through EV Training and leveling up, you’ll be ready to tackle the challenge!

Completing Tera Raid Battles is the only way to obtain Ability Patches and special ingredients for Meal Powers that’ll take your picnics to the next level. It is a fantastic way to play with friends, collect Herba Mystica, gain LP and XP, as well as collect some amazing Tera Shards. They will become available once you have completed at least ten 5 star raids in the area. And completed all the two, three and four star raids (if you haven’t already).

These raids are pretty challenging but offer unattainable Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet. They are tough to beat but through EV Training and leveling up, you’ll be ready to tackle the challenge!

  • Make sure you breed and train your best Pokemon to face these raids. These raids are beyond tough and so you will need the right strategy, best moveset and high level Pokemon. You’ll also want to have the best held Item equipped (according to their typing) for battle. For example, if you have a Sp. Attacker like Chi-Yu or Moraidon, then the best held item for them would be something like an Assault Vest as it boosts Sp. Def.
  • You’ll also want to make sure that you have the best Pokemon for battle. Tera Raid Crystals will show what the Tera Type is of the Pokemon. (Don’t forget that you can change your Pokemon’s Tera Type in the Treasure Eatery in Medali to best match the opponent.)
  • Players will want to look into which Pokemon is best suited for battle against the appointed Tera Crystal. Then calculate the best strategy for battle against that Pokemon and you’re sure to make it through! Tera raids offer amazing rewards such as Tera Shards and Herba Mystica that will aid you on your journey to catch shinies!
  • Make sure you breed and train your best Pokemon to face this raid,
  • You’ll want to make sure that you have the best Held Item equipped, the best moves STAB, and the best strategy for battle.

6. Complete the Classes at Naranja Academy for Some Cool Rewards!!!

Image

Classes become a necessity at the Naranja Academy!

Going through all of the different classes of the Naranja Academy post-game may seem a bit boring and pointless, but it is surely worth checking out! Each class has 8 lectures, a midterm and a final so be sure to bring all of your best Pokemon knowledge.

This can be done while playing through the main game but post-game is the perfect time to go through them as the classes are unlocked as you win gym battles, so completing them all at once after you’ve defeated all gym leaders is pretty satisfying.

These classes can be a bit lagging to go through but can provide some useful tips on the Naranja Academy. Check out the rewards you will get by attending these fruitful classes:

  • For midterms, students will receive five small exp. candy for passing their midterms, which can be used to increase their Pokémon's experience.
  • For finals, students receive five medium exp. candy for each completed exam after the finals.
  • After finishing all classes students will earn five large exp. point candy.

7. Obtain Legendary Pokemon (Find 7 NEW Legendaries in the DLC)

Image
Body Image

Watch out players…the heroes of Kitakami are here…

Once you have beaten the game, the Legendary hunt begins!!! These Pokemon are some of the strongest Pokemon in the game with amazing character designs that you won’t want to miss. After completing The Way Home, players have a couple of options to catch these fearsome Legendaries!

  • The NPCs with yellow thought bubbles will give you clues as to where you can find Okidogi, Munkidori and Fezandipiti. They will only tell you about where they are so it’s important to get familiar with the region throughout the main story of Kitakami so they can be easily found.
  • Munkidori can be found by Wisteria Pond in the southwest corner of the Kitakami region. Okidogi can be found by Barren Wastes in the northwest corner of the Paradise Barrens. And Fezandipiti can be found by Fellhorn Gorge, a bit east of the fast travel point. These Pokemon do not want to be easily caught as all of the Pokemon are past Poison-type that can easily wither away your Pokemon’s health. They are also level 70 so you’ll want to make sure you bring your A-game.
  • Head back to Area Zero and capture your version of the exclusive Paradox Legendary Pokemon. Iron Leaves is available for Violet and Walking Wake is available in Pokemon Scarlet. Post game allows you the time to make sure you have all your Pokemon up to par and ready to face off against these Legendaries!
  • Players can also scour the land of Paldea in search of the 32 ominous black stakes. These can be pulled out in the main story, but players may find it difficult due to their high stats.

8. Complete all the Pokedexes (Paldea, Kitakami and Blueberry Academy included)

Image
Body Image

Be sure to catch ‘em all!

During gameplay, players have the chance to complete the Pokedex on the go, but it may take a lot of time trying to figure out where the Pokemon spawn, if they need to be evolved via trading, etc. That’s why some players choose to complete all the Pokedexes after completion.

Learning about all the different Pokemon is one sure fire way to make completing each of the dexes fairly easy. You will also want to complete the Paldea Pokedex ASAP, as this is imperative to shiny hunt.

Check out some of the ways below to help you on your journey:

  • Completing 30 Pokemon in the Paldea Pokedex gives you the TM False Swipe, 100 gets you 20 Ultra Balls, 200 gets you 20 Quick Balls, 400 gets you the Shiny Charm from Professor Jacq. You will definitely need this as described in Number 10.
  • Completing the Kitakami Pokedex is super important as you will be able to meet with Professor Jacq again (located in Kitakami under a tree) and he will give you the Glimmering Charm, allowing you to collect more Tera Shards in Tera Raids. 90 gets you 1 PP Up. 130 gets you 5 star pieces. 200 gets you 1 moon ball.
  • Completing the Blueberry Pokedex will leave you with a Master Ball-240 and a Mark Charm when you visit Director Cyrano at the entrance of the Blueberry Academy. 90- Ability Capsule. 130- Electirizer. 200 the Dream Ball.
  • It’s super important to identify Pokemon’s habitats and evolutions. This will help ensure that no spot in your Pokedex goes unchecked. Also some Pokemon may require you to trade with other trainers to spark their evolution so you’ll want to familiarize yourself with that too.

9. Experience Limited Time Tera Events

Image
Body Image

Keep an eye out for these amazing limited-time events!!!

Scarlet and Violet is proactively making this game more and more enticing to play. Players can look forward to the announcements from the Pokemon Company for limited time Tera Raids!!!

This makes playing with friends so much fun as you can see the crystals in their game (although you don’t have access to them), and it can be really fun to hunt them all down even if your friends are a distance away from you IRL.

The limited time Tera Raids are a great way to keep players enticed and ready for the battle. These special events take place all throughout the year and give players the chance to catch Pokemon that they don’t necessarily have or aren’t available in their version of the game. Check out the News App on your Nintendo Switch or check the official Pokemon website to learn more!

  • Keep an eye out for the black crystals instead of the clear ones. This should make hunting for them a lot easier as it will also show up as a black icon on your map!
  • These Tera Raids are hard to beat so you’ll want to make sure to level up and keep your best Pokemon handy. Taking on these raids with friends is a great way of improving your chances for success! You can battle with friends locally and online through the PokePortal!
  • These events go by fast so you’ll want to check the Scarlet and Violet event schedules for the month. These raids feature some unattainable and highly desired Pokemon that you will not want to miss out on!
  • Each time your Pokemon faints in battle, you will lose a significant chunk of time so the best way to get ready for these battles is to max out your Pokemon’s base stats and get it to level 100. This can be easily attained through strategically battling Pokemon while holding the corresponding item like the Power Weight for attacking Chansey and gaining HP EV Points. Using items like HP Up, Feathers and PP Up will also help aid you in your quest.
  • You will also want to consider attaining the best Nature to take on the desired Pokemon. For example, if you are working with a Sp. Attacker like Sylveon, you’ll want to choose a Modest Nature. Getting the correct Nature for your Pokemon through breeding or mints or catching it, you will be able to accentuate their abilities!

10. Catch All Your Favorite Shinies

Image
Body Image

Oooo what a wonderous Scream Tail!!!

Catching shinies is probably one of the most popular ways to spend your post-game time!!! These spectacular variants of the Pokemon are roaming the land for you to catch. Although finding them may be a bit taxing, it is very worth it for your favorite shiny.

Whether you’re a fan of shinies or just into completing the game in its entirety, you’ll definitely want to be informed of all the best possible ways to collect these magnificent critters.

  • Obtain the Shiny Charm from Professor Jacq in Paldea. This will vastly increase your chance of catching a shiny. With the Shiny charm, the odds of finding a shiny Pokemon becomes 1/1365 compared to shiny rates of 1/4096 without having completed the Pokedex.
  • Battle your way through Tera Raids to find the exact Herba Mystica you need to make a Shiny Sandwich as it is a key ingredient! Defeat 5 and 6 star raids across the region to farm Herba Mystica.
  • Surprise Trades, Breeding with the Masada Method, and Purchasing the Academy Special from the Cafeteria at Blueberry Academy are great ways that you can hunt for all the shinies!!!
  • Don’t forget to utilize Pokemon Home, as you can easily store Shinies when space runs out in your boxes or bring Shinies over from the other Pokemon games!

11. Complete the Epilogue and Experience the Mochi Mayhem

Image
Body Image

Her chicken dance signals the beginning of something new!

When players finish both the main game and DLC, they can begin the madness of Mochi Mayhem!!!

You do not want to miss this crazy adventure as you’ll get the chance to battle some epic trainers and gain a massive amount of XP. At the end of the epilogue, you’ll have the chance to obtain Pecharunt, but approach with caution as it’ll take a high-level Pokemon to defeat this mochi creature.

In love with the mochi!!!

  • Head over to Peaches stand in the Kitakami region and interact with the decorations to initiate a call from Arven.
  • Soon everyone in town seems possessed by the mochi and you will begin to battle against a series of opponents, leading to your last one, Nemona.
  • Afterwards you see Nemona chasing the creature back to the Loyalty Shrine and this sets off your second to last battle. If you can get through this battle then you will be ready to face off against the brand-new mochi Pokemon, Pecharunt.
  • Defeating Pecharunt is not for the faint of heart as this high level Pokemon has an amazing move, Malignant Chain. You will have to have the best of the best Pokemon and strategy to defeat this creature, but once defeated you are able to capture it and release the townsfolk of their curse. If you black out, you will be returned to the PokeCenter and have a second chance to defeat Pecharunt.

12. Collect ALL TMs, Sandwich Recipes, and Customization Items!!!

Image
Body Image

Make useful TMs to teach your Pokemon

Although this is available During the main game playthrough, players have ample opportunities to get TMs to train your Pokemon. This can be quite time consuming for players that want to complete the story and battle all the leaders.

In postgame, you will have all the time in the world to perfect the best Pokemon team. Players get to:

  • Battle League Trainers to get TMs and visit Tera Raid Crystals to get LP
  • Collect all the sandwich recipes! Find each sandwich shop in Paldea’s cities and talk to the NPC who is a man and he stands right beside the counter. If it’s a yellow bubble then it has not been attained yet and if it’s white then it has already been interacted with. These recipes will allow you to create a variety of sandwiches pertaining to your hunting needs!
  • Find all of the clothing attire, from shops throughout the land, and beautify your outfit! Collect them all to complete your collection! Don’t forget you can also customize your facial features throughout the game.
  • Resources can be found all throughout Paldea, Kitakami and the Blueberry Academy. These golden items scattered on the ground contain some of the most useful items you can attain like Pokeballs, Great Balls, Fire Stones, Potions, and treasures to sell. These items can be incredibly useful to have as your traveling post-game as they give you items to sell when you get low on money and items to grab when you get low on items.

13. Complete the DLC’s Post Game Missions and Minigames

Image
Body Image

Get ready to show your skills in these parts of the region!!!

The missions and side quests in the DLC are just another way players can continue the journey! They are found all across the Kitakami and Blueberry Academy regions by interacting with the NPCs.

  • Ogre Ousting is just one of the many things to keep you busy on your post-game adventure. Each mode you complete (Easy, Normal or Hard), will give you loads of feathers and mochi. But completing it on hard gets you a shiny Munchlax.
  • Catching the Loyal Three. This can prove quite challenging but through training, you will have the odds forever in your favor.
  • If you speak to the community center director at Kitakami Hall, he’ll set up a donation drive to raise funds to fix the Loyalty Plaza Shrine. If you finish this, you’ll get the Flashy Festival Jinbei fashion item and the Hurray emote!
  • Visiting Grandma- Once you finish the main story and are back in Mossui Town, you’ll want to visit Carmin’s grandma’s house. When you arrive, she’ll give you two more Jinbei fashion items in deep blue and white/gray!
  • If you fill your Kitakami Pokedex, speak to Jacq in his same position by the Reveler’s Road tree and not only will you get a certificate, but you will get the Glimmering Charm. This will allow you to pick up more Tera Shards after Tera Raid Battles.

14. Breed Your Perfect Pokemon

Image
Body Image

Post-game is the perfect time to breed an all-star Pokemon!!!

Players can breed the Pokemon they catch while playing the main toryline, but you won’t get some of the most epic Pokemon, like Meloetta and Koraidon/Moraidon, until finishing the base game.

Breeding a Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet is made easy with the various resources and items you can obtain throughout your journey. Breeding a Pokemon with the same egg group and different genders, or with a foreign ditto gives you a Pokemon all of your own making with new stats, a new Nature, a new Ability and special egg moves.

There are a few things to know about breeding in Scarlet and Violet so you’ll want to check out some important key notes to consider:

  • You can find Pokemon with good stats from 5 and 6 star Tera Raids.
  • You will also want the Parent Pokemon to have good IV stats, which you can check by using the “judge function” feature once having completed the DLC.
  • Giving the parent Pokemon an Everstone while breeding will result in the Nature being passed down.
  • Giving the other parent a Destiny Knot to hold, will randomize the base stats when hatched.

15. Farm Currency

Image
Body Image

Go for the gold!!!

In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, there are many ways to farm currency. You can obtain money throughout the story by defeating Trainers and Gym Leaders along the way. But once you finish the game, it can be a little more tricky to farm currency.

  • Players will find a plethora of resources along the beach that can be picked up and sold at Pokemarts. This is most notably the easiest way to farm currency as you just have to fly to any area and there will be tons to choose from. The best part is that they respawn every 30 minutes.
  • Tera raids are awesome for farming currency. Not only do you get to battle (and maybe catch) some strong Pokemon, but it’s a great way to obtain XP candies, Tera Sshards, amongst other items. Ability Patches and Ability Capsules go for a steep price, so make sure to stock up!
  • Give the held item, Amulet Coin, to your top Pokemon, enter the Ace Academy and watch the money flow in. This works better if you equip it to your best Pokemon that can one-hit KO your opponents.

With the Hidden Treasures DLC, players get just another option to make continuous money. By dropping items into the Item Printer at Blueberry Academy, players have the chance to get some high valued items which can be sold for more money.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet introduces an array of mystery gifts, Tera Raid events, etc.. to the Pokemon Universe. It has all of the nostalgia from the older generations (through gym battles, the Legendaries and Pokemon brought back), and it introduces new elements to the game that are wall-breaking throughout all of the generations.

But the adventure doesn’t just stop there, as they’ve added so much content to the game that gives players more variety than any other generation. The above listed impressive things to do throughout the game and the adventures in post game make Pokemon Scarlet and Violet a top tier game to play!

So what do you think…is Scarlet and Violet the best game in the generation or do you have a different favorite game of the generations? What do you think about the new additions of Scarlet and Violet? Let us know what you think down below in the comments.
