How am I supposed to choose what unit to make an Assassin?

This is probably a question that everyone has on their mind. In a game where swords are typically seen as one of the weaker weapons, you may be wondering why you even want a sword unit. Who knows? Maybe you just like swords!

If you do decide you want to use a sword unit, however, it’s great to know where to start. An Assassin is a great option if you want to play with swords. I’m here to tell you what characters are the best fit for this class.

5. Shamir

Shamir is fairly easy to obtain.

Shamir isn’t a bad option to have as an Assassin. As one of the best bow users in the game, it makes sense to consider adding her to your team in this role. She has boons in bows, which will make it easy to train up. She may not have a boon in  swords, but it’s not a bane either. So you take what you can get -  it will neither help nor harm you.

The biggest problem with making Shamir an Assassin, though , is her speed growth. She has decent speed, but not as much as compared to some of the other characters on this list.

Use Shamir if:

  • You want a unit that is easy to train in bows
  • You want an Assassin that has high strength stats
  • You don’t care about having an Assassin that is not high speed

4. Ignatz

Ignatz in his school uniform.

With his strengths in bows and his decent speed stats, Ignatz makes a rather promising Assassin. Paired with his decent magic growths, this gives him a great opportunity to use specialized bows at a high level. Thanks to his special ability Watchful Eye, which grants him a hit +20, you will want to make sure he is one of the units using bows on your team.

Use Ignatz if:

  • You want an Assassin with great accuracy
  • You want a unit that can specialize in different types of bows, including magical
  • You want a unit that has decent speed

3. Bernadetta

Bernadetta in her school uniform.

This probably sounds like an… interesting  choice with her swords bane, but Bernadetta is a surprisingly good choice for an Assassin. She has a special ability that raises damage based on a health gauge that isn’t full. Combine this with the Stealth ability you get form mastering  the Assassin class, and it is an incredibly useful combo for keeping her alive and hitting hard.

This is also great when added with Bernadetta’s Vengeance ability, learned by raising her lance skill!

Use Bernadetta if:

  • You want to use the Stealth ability to keep your unit alive
  • You don’t mind working on your unit’s sword bane despite the difficulty for a great outcome
  • You would like to have a high risk, high reward unit with Vengeance, Stealth, and Persecution Complex

2. Felix

Felix in a school uniform.

Felix is an obvious choice for an Assassin. He has boons in swords and bows, which make him the ideal candidate for this class. Thanks to his rather impressive speed growth as well, an Assassin seems like the perfect class for this tsundere. Especially for a unit with a high critical chance.

The biggest problem is he may fit even better in other classes. The possibilities are endless!

Use Felix if:

  • You want a high-speed unit as your Assassin
  • You don’t plan to use Felix as your War Master or Mortal Savant
  • You want a high-crit unit as your Assassin

1. Petra

Petra in her school uniform.

Petra is easily one of the best Assassins in the game. In fact, her canon class is Assassin. This should come as no surprise due to her impressive speed growths, as well as boons in swords and bows. This gives her a huge advantage over almost every other unit in the game.

However, Petra is also incredibly gifted with flying, which makes her an excellent choice for a Wyvern Lord. This is arguably the strongest class in the game.

Use Petra if:

  • You want one of the highest speed units in the game as your Assassin
  • You want a character that will easily be promoted to Assassin thanks to her weapon boons
  • You do not plan to make Petra a flying unit
