Best Slardar Builds
Updated:
22 Sep 2022

Meet Slardar, the Slithereen Guard. A melee strength hero that’ll make your ‘dominating’ dreams come true, while effectively ending your opponents. How? Because of his ‘stunning’ abilities. Literally. He can stun a lot! We’re not even kidding. He’s one of THE best heroes to rush into battle with since he can take on almost anyone in a 1v1 showdown.
However, you’re not going to dominate a single hero, let alone force a rage-quit if you’re not sure about what build to follow. Especially if you’re new to Slardar. Continue reading, find your preferred style, and try out a build I’ve collated just for you!

Here are the top 5 builds for Slardar:

Slardar is a great solo hero. However, use him in a combo-wombo and he's going to be epic.

If there’s one important thing I always stress to new players; it’s the magnanimous importance of team play. You can, of course, carry a game on your own, but why go through all that added stress when, if you recall, you do have 4 more players to play with.
Remember, your objective here is to support your team & to help them in any way you can. That’s why I’ve listed items that will do both; keep you alive & help your allies with important aurae and bonuses.

What is this build good for:

  • Synchronizing your attacks with the team.
  • Attacking as one unit, enhanced with your item choice.
  • Making the best of your team’s play for almost ‘unparalleled’ dominance.

Starting Items

  • Wind Lace
  • Mango x2
  • Tango

Early Items

  • Phase Boots
  • Blink Dagger
  • Drum of Endurance

  • Assault Cuirass

3) The ‘I Soldier On’ Tank Build

Image
Body Image

The most threatening Slardar, is the one with the most balanced armor, health and attack speed.

Do I even need to explain this? Well, since you’re reading. Might as well give in my two cents about how to make this seriously strong guy even stronger once he’s outside the water.
Here, we’ll focus on items that’ll simply make Slardar a much tougher opponent to face once he blinks into the fray and initiates combat for his other ‘heavy-damage inducing’ allies.
Not only will this build help you survive for longer, but it’ll also make ‘fighting you’ a pain in the initial AoE if you so choose to fight with an Aghanim’s Sceptre. (If you’re good at farming, try rushing it and then going for Blink Dagger, and then the rest, so on and so forth.)

What is this build good for:

  • Surviving Initiations & getting back into the fight in no time.
  • Great for team-fights. Especially ones in compact areas.

Starting Items

  • Wind Lace
  • Mango x2
  • Tango

Early Items

  • Phase Boots
  • Blink Dagger
  • Platemail

Core Items

  • Assault Cuirass
  • Black King Bar
  • Heart of Tarrasque
  • Shiva’s Guard (def) or Aghanim’s Scepter (att)

Skill Build:

  • (Q) Guardian Sprint: 5,8,14,17
  • (W) Slithereen Crush: 2,4,9,13
  • (E) Bash of the Deep: 1,3,7,12
  • (R) Corrosive Haze: 6,11,16

  • Talent Tree: 10,15,20,25. (All at 30)

Talent Tree:

  •  +8 Health Regen
  • + 350 Health
  • 30+ Lifesteal
  • -4.5s Slithereen Crush Cooldown

2) The ‘Peeka Boo, I Stun You’ Gank Build

Image
Body Image

If you spot a Slardar on his way to gank, get out of there. Survival chances once he arrives are close to none.

What I love to do most with Slardar is, gank, ambush, dominate and blush as my team-mates compliment my ‘oh-so-epic’ surprise attacks. However, to be honest, Slardar just makes it way too easy.
This strategy, while giving you the items you’ll need, will also require you to focus on your abilities. Getting the right ability at the right time will mean A LOT because it’s going to be very handy in team-fights. Friendly Tip - Get into fights with a charged-up (3 pre-hits on any enemy unit) ‘Bash of the Deep’ first. Then ‘Slithereen Crush’ as your team heads in, by when you’ll probably have your ‘Bash of the Deep’ almost ready again.

What is this build good for:

  • First Blood (Need support of two more heroes at least, during rune snatch at the start.)
  • Put pressure on all lanes from the earliest stage of the game
  • You WILL be feared at all times.

Starting Items

  •  Wind lace or Orb of Venom (If you pick Orb of Venom, start with ‘Guardian Spirit’ as your first ability & ‘Slithereen Crush’ as your second.)
  • Tango
  • Healing Salve

Early Items

  • Phase Boots
  • Blink Dagger
  • Ring of Tarrasque

Core Items

  • Silver Edge or Aghanim’s Scepter
  • Desolator or Assault Cuirass
  • Heart of Tarrasque
  • Abyssal Blade

Skill Build:

  •  (Q) Guardian Sprint: 5,8,14,17
  • (W) Slithereen Crush: 1,4,9,13
  • (E) Bash of the Deep: 2,3,7,12
  • (R) Corrosive Haze: 6,11,16

  • Talent Tree: 10,15,20,25. (All at 30)

Talent Tree:

  •  +8 Health Regen
  • +75 Bash Damage
  • +30% Lifesteal
  • -4.5s Slithereen Crush Cooldown

1) The ‘Shocketh & Awe’ Perma-stun Build

Image
Body Image

One of the only hero's that can actually keep a unit stunned permanently with just his basic skills.

This build is downright sadistic. Not even going to sugar-coat it. You get this build under 30 minutes and you’re going to SLAY the day. Don’t be surprised if your opponents rage quit and furiously type a ‘bug’ report asking Valve & IceFrog to ‘Pls Nerf Slardar.’ before defeatedly clicking on ‘Uninstall Dota 2’.
Remember, the key to this build is not to be too aggressive from the start, but to be just about the right of both, patience and aggression. Stay smart about your game and most importantly - be patient. Staying alive for long enough while farming and helping out wherever and whenever you can, will help you get your items faster. Do this and you’ll turn into a force that will most definitely right-click anyone’s soul into helpless-submission, just like their perma-stunned hero.

What is this build good for:

  • Unforgivable 1v1 fights
  • Enemies will almost always be stunned once you have all items from the ‘core items’ list.

Starting Items

  • Tango
  • Mango
  • Wind Lace
  • Iron Branch x2

Early Items

  • Phase Boots
  • Blink Dagger
  • Echo Sabre

Core Items

  • Moon Shard x 3 (Two in inventory & One Consumed)
  • Mjollnir (If you pick 2 Moon Shards - 1in your inventory & 1 consumed.)
  • Octarine Core (If you want even faster stuns, pick this instead of Mjollnir/3rd Moon Shard)
  • Abyssal Blade

Skill Build:

  •  (Q) Guardian Sprint: 5,8,14,17
  • (W) Slithereen Crush: 2,4,9,13
  • (E) Bash of the Deep: 1,3,7,12
  • (R) Corrosive Haze: 6,11,16
  • Talent Tree: 10,15,20,25. (All at 30)

Talent Tree:

  •  +8 Health Regen
  • +75 Bash Damage
  • +30% Lifesteal
  • -4.5s Slithereen Crush Cooldown

What is Lorem Ipsum? It's time for them to learn their place. Reina storms the King of Iron Fist Tournament in #TEKKEN8  Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.     Why do we use it?It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).Where does it come from?Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.The standard chunk of Lorem Ipsum used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions from the 1914 translation by H. Rackham.Where can I get some? There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised
