5. Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 - The Official Video Game (Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PC, PS5)

Olympic Games Tokyo 2020: The Official Video Game - Olympics Celebration Trailer | PS4

It’s too bad this game couldn’t tie in with the actual olympic games as intended, but like all things COVID, video games are there to give you the next best thing, right? Here you can partake in a plethora of gaming activities with your family including, tennis, boxing, rock climbing, basketball and yes, baseball.

There are 18 different events you can participate in, all based on the real life lineup. Controls are smooth and this is certainly the closest you’ll get to participating in the olympic games with online players. If you really want to jazz things up, be sure to unlock the Sonic and Mario mascot suits, now there’s a party.

4. MLB The Show 21 (Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, PS5)

The greatest baseball simulator of all time comes back with some big upgrades. MLB The Show 21, is Sony San Diego’s 16th installment of MLB The Show’s franchise, and they have certainly shown no signs of slowing down.

The thing that stands out most in this installment is the Custom Stadium Creator, where players can, well, you guessed it, customize their own stadium. But it doesn’t end there, you can even customize the cities behind those stadium walls! There are a ton of other great features that let you refine your game and with the PS5’s dual sense controller and pulse 3D headphones this is one of the most immersive baseball experiences yet.

3. Super Mega Baseball 3 (Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS5)

Don’t let the arcady look fool you, this is one grounded baseball experience. Super Mega Baseball 3 is the third installment of the Super Mega Baseball Franchise, an online and offline, on-field baseball simulator.

Unlike MLB The Show, SMB likes its models cartoony and exaggerated with goofy names, which certainly gives the game a comical feel. Nevertheless, the graphics have always been great with these titles and have never looked better. There’s a fun array of customization for the field and your avatar and now you have Franchise mode, which was a much needed addition from the last two installments.

2. MLB The Show 22 (Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PS5)

Now you’ve got online co-op, allowing players to build teams across platforms. There are some great new voice casts as well that really sell the immersion of baseball broadcasts like never before. MLB’s story mode has proven time and again that it is one of the best story modes in sports games, and 2022 is no exception. Who knew RPG’s and sports would go together so well, but here, it absolutely does. Batter up!

1. MLB The Show 19 (PS4, PS5)

An instant classic for the MLB The Show franchise, the 2019 version hit us with all the bells and whistles we like from the San Diego Studio and much more. MLB The Show is, of course, the worldwide baseball simulation game of all time and nothing proves that more than 2019.

2019 introduced players to Defensive Play and added some much needed colour coding mechanics to let you see where the ball is at any given moment. Relive the seasons from March to October, with smoothed out controls and a neat upgrade to the personality tree to really engage with your baseball career. And be sure to check out the new mode, Moments, challenges themed after great historical moments in baseball. The bar was certainly set for the MLB franchise after this gem came out.
