How do you prefer to dispose off the undead swarm?

Killing zombies has to be one of the most satisfying acts in video games. It allows you to fulfill your carnal violent urges without feeling bad about it. Zombies are evil right? So killing them is good. We’ve put together a list of the best zombie games with an emphasis on new releases. Here they are, the top 10 zombie games:

10. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 (Zombie Mode)

This zombie looks like he's seen better days

Do people play Black Ops for any other reason than the zombie mode? Don’t answer that. The Nazi Zombies from Black Ops I and II took the world by storm, and the game is now immensely popular for that game mode alone.

The player takes control of a soldier armed with nothing but a pistol and a knife. Killing zombies awards the player with points that he can use to upgrade or buy new weapons. The only purpose of the game is to survive as many waves of zombies as you can.

9. State of Decay

Playing follow the leader

Marcus Campell is the name of this game’s protagonist, and it starts with him returning from a fishing trip only to discover that the zombie apocalypse has started. Perhaps he should’ve stayed in the mountains. Marcus discovers a group of survivors and they try to find a way to escape the military quarantine together and get to safety.

This is a completely open world zombie survival multiplayer game that gives the player more control than almost any other game out there. This makes State of Decay one of the best zombie games for PC. You can choose where to camp, what to have in your kitchen, what weapons to use, where to build barricades, and much much more.

8. Dead Rising 3

Dress up like a fireman, giant game mascot, or thong wearing poser. You can do it all!

Nick Ramos was living peacefully in the California city of Los Perdidos before the zombies came. Now he is fighting to survive together with a small group of humans. They are all trying to find their way out of the city and away from the nasty virus.

Dead Rising 3 takes the horror out of zombie and replaces it with complete comedy. The number one thing to remember in any Dead Rising game is that anything and everything is a weapon. If you want to attach kitchen knives to boxing gloves and kill zombies while wearing a speedo thong, then you can do that. This game definitely gets props for creativity.

7. Resident Evil: Revelations 2

Resident Evil has more types of zombies than any other game out there

The entire Resident Evil franchise could be on this list since they are some of the best zombie games around. Revelations 2 is a game set in-between the events of the 5th and 6th game. You play as Claire Redfield as you and Moira are taken to an island facility full of afflicted. You have to somehow escape with your lives intact.

This game focuses very heavily on stealth mechanics since you are very vulnerable and easily killed. Only one character has a gun, the rest has to fight with bricks or crowbars… Therefore, stealth is definitely the better alternative.

6. Human Element

Hopefully this game will be released!

What is the greatest threat in a zombie apocalypse? This was the question that led to the design of this game. It is not the zombie virus. It is the fear of what the virus may produce in humans, who are capable of terrible things. As such the game is set 35 years after the initial apocalypse started. The focus is on the human element, not the zombies.

Not much is really known about the story at this point, but we know that the game is supposed to be a huge open world that is completely controlled by the characters. Interactive coop play is supposed to be integrated as well.

Last we heard, there were some conflicts in developments, so whether or not we actually get to see this game is still unknown.

5. Killing Floor 2

They weren't kidding about the gore

Europe has descended into complete chaos as the zombie apocalypse has taken over. All governments are paralyzed and it looks like the end of the world. However, there is still one large corporation with money to spend, Horzine. They are paying you and some other elite soldiers to get down on the ground and exterminate the threat.

The game is still in early access but it seems to be doing very well. One word can describe this gameplay: Gore. Somehow the game developers must’ve figured that none of the best zombie games on the market were gory enough, so they amped it up. Other awesome features include 6 player co-op, included map editors, and a difficulty system that changes the gameplay itself.

4.  H1Z1

Do you think Romero survived?

Number 4 on our top 10 zombie game list is H1Z1, which supposedly stands for the zombie virus. This game is an open world MMO zombie survival game in which everything that moves wants you dead. No joke. If you see something move, even if it’s just an animal, you better run.

This game has included a very immersive crafting system that allows you to create anything from shelters to weapons. Also, since the game is an mmo you’ll constantly be encountering other players. You can choose whether you want to be hostile or friendly with them. Keep in mind that you’re more likely to survive in a group though.

3. Bloodborne

Prepare to die, again

This game is created by the same people who made Dark Souls, so naturally the story is difficult to pull out and understand. You show up in the famous gothic city of Yharnam looking for pale blood. Of course we don’t know why, but there is a big problem. Most of the city’s population has turned into massive ravenous monsters.

This game is hard, like really hard! Although not as hard as Dark Souls but that doesn’t really mean anything. However, the game is highly addictive for some reason. Maybe it has something to do with our mysterious obsession with killing the undead.

You get to customize your character completely from the start which is awesome. Then you can level your character as you wish and use whatever weapons you want. Remember, in this game all weapons are viable, as long as you’re good and patient enough to use them.

2. Dying Light

THIS IS SPARTA!!!

Parkour and zombies, what's not to love? The Global Relief Effort has sent you in as an undercover agent into the zombie infested city of Harran. You need to procure some top secret documents stolen by an insane looney that rules over many of the survivors. You quickly become wrapped up in saving the people that are left, and you realize that the GRE’s motives might not be as pure as you first thought.

The absolute best feature about this game is the awesome parkour mechanics of the game. You have to travel over the house tops since the streets are littered with the infested. The smooth parkour allows you to feel incredibly free as you explore the massive city in all three dimensions. This game is unlike any other.

1. Dead Island 2

When was the last time he went to dentist do you think?

The entire state of California has succumbed to the zombie virus, and of course you’re trapped inside. It is likely that there are more survivors than you, so you probably don’t have to feel all too alone.  The game is likely to mimic many of the things that made the first game one of the best zombie games for PC and consoles.

The world will likely be huge and massive; in fact don’t be surprised if you can explore the entire state. You won’t have to trek around on foot though since vehicles have been incorporated as a method of traveling. All in all, this takes our number one spot for our top 10 best zombie games list because of the huge open world and customization available to the player. You can kill zombies in your own way in this awesome zombie game.
