Hi Pokémon fans, want to make your Pokémon stronger with Egg Moves? Use some of them in Battles or in Tera Raids.

What are Egg Moves and how does it work?

Egg Moves are rare and special moves that may assist with Pokémon becoming stronger because of their stats and the overall moves they can learn. It depends on what the Egg Move offers.

Pokémon can learn Egg Moves when you create a picnic.

Here’s a short video on how it works and it doesn’t require breeding. It shows visual-detailed information.

It’s important that the receiving Pokémon can achieve the Egg Move you want.

By applying the mechanics in the video, let’s say that you want to make your Umbreon stronger. The Pokémon Database is a reliable source of information that shows all the Egg Moves that Umbreon can learn in Scarlet and Violet.

Umbreon has a small HP (95), so maybe it should learn the move Wish when battling with your friends. You may research how many Pokemon can learn the move Wish. Some Pokémon are easier to catch than others.

Luvdisc naturally learns Wish, and it’s a common Pokémon to find in Paldea’s oceans around Levencia’s Lighthouse. The Pokémon giving the Egg Move should be a Pokémon that’s effortless to catch. Copy and paste the Picnic Mirror Herb method to Umbreon.

10. Destiny Bond

Trevenant will bring down another Pokémon with it!

Destiny Bond is a superior Special Defense move where if the user faints, the opponent also faints. It’s recommended only in Online Battle and battling the game’s Gyms. It only 100% works when used once, allowing the opponent to knock out your Pokémon on the 3’rd turn. If they knock out your Pokémon, theirs does too.

Why Destiny Bond is an Amazing Egg Move:

Destiny Bond is still one of the best OG moves during Online Battle. It’s an unexpected overpowered move during situations where you just can’t defeat the opponent's Pokémon, and you need to answer in battle by putting pressure on them. It’s risky, but the strategy is to only use it once and put the opponent “on the edge”.
It’s also satisfying when using Destiny Bond on the opponent’s last Pokémon, when you have at least 2 more Pokémon (counting the one you’re using) in your party. Usually, you swap in the Pokémon that has the Destiny Bond move.
Before using Destiny Bond, the Pokémon must have at least great Defense with 80 or more. There may be times where in battle, your Pokémon must endure an incoming attack and hopefully doesn’t knock out. Immunity counts too, such as Fairies are immune to Dragon-Types.
Destiny Bond is a recommended Egg Move to have in Paldea’s story such as facing the Elite 4, Academy Ace Tournament, and Blueberry Academy’s Double Battles. These fights are much harder when you don’t have enough high level Pokémon.
While 25 Pokémon can learn Destiny Bond, Pokémon with decent Defense stats and slightly low health benefit from it the most. This ensures you have a 2’nd turn in battle.
Houndstone is immune to Normal and Fighting. It resists Poison and Bug.
Mimikyu is immune to Normal, Fighting, and Dragon. It resists Bug-Types.
Gardevoir is immune to Dragon-Types too. It can resist Psychic and Fighting-Types.
Mabostiff is immune to Psychic. It resists Ghost and Dark-Types.
Spiritomb is immune to Normal, Fighting, and Psychic. It resists Poison-Types.

9. Future Sight

Farigaf’s psychic powers are overwhelming Vibarva!

Future Sight deals accurate 120 damage, but does not hit until two turns after the move is used. If the opponent chooses to switch their Pokémon, the new Pokémon gets hit. The best thing about this move is that it bypasses an opponent’s Protect, Detect, Endure, and Wonder Guard.

Why Future Sight is an Amazing Egg Move:

While ineffective in Tera Raids, Future Sight is best for Online Double Battles because of the massive damage it deals. Psychic moves are super effective against Fighting and Poison.
As of Regulation G, many players will have Fighting and Poison-Tye Pokémon as a 2’nd attacker or a supporter such as Urshifu. Also, it may be useful against Eternatus who is a Dragon and Poison Pokémon.
Future Sight when used correctly is merciless. There must be 1 Pokémon in your team (preferably Fairy, Rock, Grass, Normal, or Dark) that acts as bait in order for the opponent to keep their Fighting or Poison Pokémon in battle. Allow it to learn Block. Use Block onto the opponent’s Fighting and Poison-Type so they don’t switch their Pokemon and follow up with your 2’nd Pokémon using Future Sight to take them down.
There are only 2 Pokémon with 2 evolutions that can learn Future Sight as an Egg Move, Farigaff and Grumpig. Both of them act as an “ace in the hole” that can both activate Trick Room or Imprison in competitive battles.
Farigaff’s HP is 120 and its Special Attack is 110. It can be a great supporting Pokémon that can create many great set ups, and can boost Future Sight with the move Calm Mind.
Grumpig’s Special Attack is 90 and its Special Defense is 110. It can be a great supporting Pokémon that can make the opponent confused, dodge their moves with Bounce, and can use Calm Mind too.

8. Worry Seed

Scovillain prevents Gloom using Rest.

The Grass-Type move Worry Seed automatically changes the opponent’s Ability to Insomnia. Insomnia is an Ability that prevents the Pokémon from falling asleep. If Worry Seed is used on a sleeping Pokémon, it will wake up on its next turn. Worry Seed is a move that directly combats opponents in Online Battle that may use the move Rest.

Sunflora can learn Worry Seed at level 19 and can give it to:

What makes Worry Seed an Amazing Egg Move:

Worry Seed only works in Online Battle, and fails in Tera Raids. The purpose of Worry Seed is to prevent the opponent’s Pokémon from using Rest. Rest is a move where the Pokémon sleeps for 2 turns, and regains their full HP. In Online Battle, players can’t access their bag, so healing moves is the only option for them to heal their Pokémon.
In a situation where the opponent’s Pokémon has half or less HP, they might use Rest, but it also depends on their Pokémon if they learn it. Many Pokémon can learn Rest through their evolution or by Technical Machine. The use of Rest is already tricky to use in battle, so the opponent’s adjacent Pokemon will be forced to use defensive moves. Prepare against rare occasions.
In Regulation G, many powerful Pokemon can learn Rest such as Lugia, Suicine, Ho-Oh, Latios, Latias, Deoxys, Entei, Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza. Online players using these Legendary Pokémon are highly likely going to set up creative defenses before they use Rest, and initiating Worry Seed may disrupt their strategy.
There are only 28 Pokémon that can learn Worry Seed as an Egg Move. Decent stats look for high Attack or High Special Attack.
Skeptile’s Attack is 105. After using Worry Seed, use powerful Special Attacks such as Leaf Storm, dealing 130 Damage to knock out the opponent.
Rillaboom’s Attack is 125. After using Worry Seed, use powerful Attacks such as Wood Hammer dealing 120 damage but Rillaboom receives small recoil damage. Or, do a complete plot twist and allow Rillaboom to use Earthquake or Focus Blast against Pokémon weak to Ground and Fighting moves.
Scovillain’s Attack is 108 and its Special Attack is 108. After using Worry Seed use its powerful Grass or Fire-Type moves like Flamethrower dealing 90 damage and burning the target. Crunch and Zen Headbutt are awesome choices to face off against Pokémon who are weak to Grass, Dark, and Psychic moves just in case.
Amoonguss’s Attack is 85 and its HP is 114. Before using Worry Seed, poison the opponent’s team with Toxic Spikes. After using Worry Seed, continue with Amoonguss’s Grass-draining moves such as Giga Drain dealing 75 damage and regaining half HP.
Breloom’s Attack is 130. After using Worry Seed, continue with Grass-draining moves such as Giga Drain. Breloom can learn Counter where if it is hit by a Physical Attack, Breloom strikes back with double power. Breloom can disrupt the flow of battle with Poison Jab, Thunder Punch, Zen Headbutt, and Rock Slide against Pokémon weak to Grass, Poison, Electric, Psychic, and Rock.

7. Wish

Why Wish is an Amazing Egg Move:

Wish favors Pokémon with low or moderate HP, so they can regain HP after the next turn and continue to battle with strong moves. It keeps them durable during Tera Raids and Online Battles.
In Tera Raids, wish will prevent your Pokémon from fainting but also prevent the timer from decreasing further. For every time your team’s Pokémon knocks out during Tera Raids, a small portion of the timer decreases. Stay alive in battle to save time!
In Online Battle, opponents just go for super effective moves. With Wish, you have to use a strategy beforehand such as boosting your Pokémon’s defense or evasiveness.
You would want to do this because in the next move, the opponent may use a super effective move where your Pokemon’s HP has a small chance to be “in a pinch”. Then, with the effect of Wish on the next turn, your Pokémon will either withstand a superefective move or dodge it.
There are 31 Pokémon that can learn Wish as an Egg Move. The best choice you can have are all the Eveelutions, Wigglytuff, Pawmot, and Delphox.
The Eveelutions have mass type advantage. Half of them struggle with low base HP such as Jolteon, Flareon, Leafeon, Espeon, and Glaceon. They’re the best Pokémon to stay durable in battle because they can learn so many moves!
Wigglytuff’s known for its HP (140). While that’s high, Wigglytuff’s use of Defense Curl can boost its Defensive stats throughout battle. Wigglytuff is a Normal and Fairy Pokémon weak to many moves besides Fighting, Ghost, and Dragon-Types. Its HP can lower rapidly from most Pokémon types.
Pawmot’s not known for high HP (70). Pawmot is a Fighting and Electric Type, and makes up for Attack (115) by using effective moves like Thunder Punch and Brick Break and may boost those moves with Bulk Up. Before using Wish it may use Agility to boost its evasiveness.
Delphox’s known for its Special Attack (114) and Special Defense (100). Its HP (75) is small. Delphox is a Fire and Psychic Type which boasts unique resistance to Fighting, Fire, Psychic, Fairy, and Steel. It can learn Psychic Terrain, where for 5 turns, the terrain prevents grounded Pokémon from being hit by high-priority moves. Before using wish it can boost its evasiveness with Agility or Flame Charge.

6. Mirror Coat

Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the greatest of them all? Gothitelle is.

The effect of the move Mirror Coat is super-specific. When the user gets hit by a Special Attack, it will strike back with double power. It depends on the Special Attack’s move and strength. If Calm Mind’s used beforehand (boosted Special Attack and Special Defense), Mirror Coat can become super effective.

Why Mirror Coat is an Excellent Egg Move:

Every Pokémon type is slightly weak to their same type. As an example, Ghost and Dragon-Types are famous for being weak against their own type, and they’re known for Special Attacks. When their Special Attacks hit your Pokémon, your Pokémon will double the power of their Ghost and Dragon-Type moves such as Shadow Ball and Dragon Pulse.
Mirror Coat is super effective in Tera Raids when moves like Calm Mind were used beforehand. Calm Mind increases Special Attack and Special Defense by 1 stage. The effect of Calm Mind is a multiplier depending on the opponent’s moves’ strength.
When Calm Mind maxes out to 6 stages, it will add the Special Attack that hits your Pokémon. As an example, Farigaff’s max Special Attack is 350. When it gets hit by Sludge Bomb, 90, Mirror Coat will create 180 Damage. Adding to Calm Mind’s 6 stages equals 530 Special Attack. Use this strategy against 6 and 7 Star Tera Raids.
During Online Battles, Mirror Coat can turn an opponent’s weak Special Attack move into a strong move just for your Pokémon’s sake. As an example, Ember is a move that deals 40 damage and may burn the target. Mirror Coat can turn that into an 80 damage move, and with 6 Calm Minds, it will add onto your Pokemon max Special Attack stat.
There are 24 Pokémon that can learn Mirror Coat as an Egg Move. The best Pokemon to choose are Farigaf, Toedscruel, Duraludon, Frosmoth, and Gothitelle because they have moves that can boost Mirror Coat and have great max Special Attack stats.
Farigaf’s max Special Attack is 350. It can increase Mirror Coat with Calm Mind.
Toedscruel’s max Special Attack is 284, It can increase Mirror Coat with Growth, boosting its Attack and Special Attack stat.
Duraludon’s max Special Attack is 372. It can increase Mirror Coat with Focus Energy, which increases Critical Hit Ratio.
Frosmoth’s max Special Attack is 383. It can increase Mirror Coat with Calm Mind.
Gothitelle’s max Special Attack is 317. It can increase Mirror Coat with Calm Mind.

5. Curse

Vaporeon’s super mean in Tera Raids.

For Pokémon who are not Ghost-Types, Curse as an Egg Move increases the Pokémon’s Attack and Defense stat by 1 stage each.

Why Curse is an Excellent Egg Move:

Curse is one of the most popular Egg Moves during Tera Raids because it saves your Pokémon’s time. Instead of boosting Attack and Defense separately through many moves, Curse simplifies those stats by increasing them in 1 move.
When Curse is maxed out, your Pokémon can lead with a powerful attack to take down the target’s Tera Shield and withstand their attacks.
It’s a great set up move to beat the Tera Raid target, including beating down their shield thus knocking it out.
During Online Battle, Curse is a great “prepared” move for when the opponent will switch to a bulkier Pokémon. Use Curse before they Attack, and prioritize follow up moves that list as either Effective or Super Effective.
While 84 Pokémon can learn Curse as an Egg Move, Pokémon with medium-high Attack and Defense stats benefit from Curse.
Vaporeon can increase its Water-Type Attacks.
Annihilape can increase its Ghost and Fighting Attacks.
Clodsire can increase its Ground-Type Attacks.
Gastrodon can increase its Ground and Water Attacks.
Chestnaught can increase its Grass and Fighting Attacks.

4. Mystical Fire

Mystical Fire deals 75 accurate damage and lowers the target's Special Attack by one stage.

Why Mystical Fire is an Excellent Egg Move:

This Egg Move’s highly useful for reducing Special Attack damage during 5, 6, and 7 Star Tera Raids, and it’s most ideal for Supporting Pokémon.
By maxing out Mystical Fire 6 times, your Pokémon and your teammates no longer need to fear being knocked out by Special Attack moves. Incoming damage to your Pokémon’s HP bar should only look like a sliver.
Mystical Fire is a Fire-Type move and is super effective against Grass, Ice, Bug, and Steel-Types. 6 and 7 Star Steel Type Pokémon can be a pain to deal with since Steel-Types are resistant to many types and mostly use Special Attacks such as Flash Canon, as an advantage to lower your team Pokémon’s Special Defense.
There are only 2 Pokémon that benefit from Mystical Fire as an Egg Move.
Gardevoir is a special case, since it learns Mystical Fire by evolution. In case the move’s forgotten it can relearn it from another Raltz. Gardevoir’s Special Attack is 125 and its Special Defense is 115. The move Calm Mind can increase Mystical Fire more. Gardevoir can double-reduce the target’s Special Attack with the move Light Screen.
Hatterene may be slightly more powerful than Gardevoir because its base Defense is 90 and its Special Attack is 136. It can learn Calm Mind and Light Screen too but unlike Gardevoir, it can increase the Defense stat of a teammate by 1 stage with the move Aromatic Mist. You’d want to have Hatterene to prepare against both the opponent’s Special Attack and Attack moves.

3. Howl

Howl increases the Attack of the user and its teammates by one stage.

Why Howl is an Astounding Egg Move:

Howl is one of the best moves to have in Tera Raids because it helps your Pokemon and your teammates' Pokémon to become more powerful.
During Tera Raids, there is an automatic Attack Up option, but you can only use it 3 times choosing between Heal Up and Defense Up. With Howl, there is 40 PP, and it can be used more than 6 times in case you or your teammates Attack stats are lowered.
Howl is a great move during Online Double Battles, as it prepares your 2 Pokémon to sweep out the opponent’s Pokemon. Do keep in mind that if you switch Pokémon, the Pokemon that’s only switched out will lose Howl’s effects.
There are 17 Pokémon that can learn Howl as an egg move. These Pokemon are incredibly diverse with lots of Type coverage. Howl benefits Pokémon with any Attack stat, however for Tera Raid purposes you should choose a Pokémon with high Attack stat.
Lucario’s Attack is 110. It should use its powerful Fighting and Steel-Type Attacks against Fairy, Ice, Rock, Dark, Normal, and Steel-Types.
Luxray’s Attack is 120. It should use its powerful Electric-Type moves against Water and Flying-Types.
Houndstone’s Attack is 101. It should use its powerful Ghost-Type Attacks against Ghost and Psychics. While Ghosts are known for Special Moves, Phantom Force and Lick are physical Ghost-Type Attacks.
Camperupt’s Attack is 100. It should use its powerful Ground and Fire-Type Attacks against Electric, Poison, Rock, Steel, Fire, Ice, Bug, and Grass-Types.
Dachsbun’s Attack is 80. It should use its powerful Fairy-Type moves against Fighting, Dark, and Dragon-Types. It’s an underrated Pokémon with the Well-Baked-Body Ability, immune to Fire-Type moves and sharply boosts its Defense when hit by them.

2. Belly Drum

Belly Drum is a move where the Pokémon loses 50% of its max HP, but their Attack stat increases to its maximum. This favors physical Pokémon.

Why is Belly Drum a Superior Egg Move:

Belly Drum is one of the most popular Egg Moves during Tera Raids because it saves a lot of turns instead of using Swords Dance 3 times. The Pokemon that can learn Belly Drum don’t have to use time wasting moves and can smoothly use powerful Attacks or Special Attacks after the move.
It’s a perfect move during Online Battles too when necessary. However, the Pokémon’s HP should be EV trained to its maximum for the strategy to work. The best situation to use Belly Drum is if the opponent doesn’t use an attacking move beforehand, allowing yourself to predict how much HP your Pokemon might lose.
Here’s an example when Belly Drum means “Attack stat increases to its maximum.” Ursaluna’s base Attack stat is 140. When it uses Belly Drum, it’s maximum Attack stat is 416. It should use powerful Ground-Type moves against Electric Type Pokémon. Since it has the Mind’s Eye Ability, its Normal-Type move Blood Moon can impact Ghost-Types.
There are 24 Pokémon that can learn Belly Drum as an Egg Move. Pokémon with 200 maximum Attack stat or more benefit from the move.
Slowking and Slowbro’s maximum Attack is 273. It should use its powerful Water and Psychic-Type Attacks such as Zen Headbutt or Liquidation against Fire, Ground, Rock, Fighting, and Poison-Types.
Azumarill’s maximum Attack is 218. It should use its powerful Water or Fairy-Type Attacks against Fire, Ground, Rock, and Dragon-Types.
Chestnaught’s maximum Attack is 344. It should use its powerful Grass and Fighting-Type Attacks against Water, Ground, Rock, Dark, Ice, Normal, and Steel-Types.
Ursaluna’s maximum Attack is 416. It should use its powerful Normal and Ground-Type Attacks against Ghost, Electric, Fire, Poison, Rock, and Steel-Types.
Charizard’s maximum Attack is 293. It should use its powerful Fire, Dragon, and Flying-Type Attacks against Gass, Ice, Steel, Bug, Fighting, and Dragon-Types.

1. Tickle

A laughable move turns into a menacing move!

Tickle lowers the target's Attack and Defense stat by one stage each. Tickle is a Normal Special Defense move, and is the most powerful Special Defense move because of its deadly negative effects onto the opponent and leverages the user with more unpredictability.

Best Compatibility:

Gothita at Level 8 naturally learns Tickle and can give it to:

Why Tickle is the Best Superior Egg Move:

In any Tera Raid, lowering Attack and Defense takes time especially in 6 and 7 Star Tera Raids. Also, you don’t want to go between 2 separate turns if 1 move is made for lowering 1 stat and vice versa. Tickle saves turn consumption, ensuring that you and your team can defeat the Tera Raid successfully.
When Tickle is maxed out, it means the Tera Target’s Attack and Defense are completely lowered. Your team can barely get damaged by its Attack moves and the target is most vulnerable to physical Attack moves. Terastalize and use your super effective moves!
Tickle is also perfect for Online Battles in both Single and Doubles. Whenever the opponent switches out their Pokémon, their switched out Pokémon stats doesn’t reset, and stats of Tickle remain. You want to use Tickle against all of their powerful physical Attack Pokémon such as Fighting, Dragon, Ground, Rock, Bug, and sometimes Fairy and Steel-Types.
Tickle is an unpredictable move in battle but also it prepares you to use more unpredictable moves that the opponent won’t expect. Lowering an opponent's Attack and Defense stat can allow you to do many things, and you don’t always have to attack. You could use things like Toxic, Stealth Rock, Snowscape, Rain Dance, Copycat, or even Metronome. The opponent will have a difficult time telegraphing your next move.
There are 39 Pokémon that can learn Tickle as an Egg Move. All of Evee’s evolutions benefit from this move because they have mass type advantage countering any Pokémon of any type but it will always depend on the Eveelution you choose.
Vaporeon is a Water-Type. After Tickle, it can use its powerful Water-Type moves.
Or use something like Acid Armor to increase Vaporeon’s Defense by two stages.
Jolteon is an Electric-Type. After Tickle, it can use its powerful Electric-Type moves.
Or use something like Shadow Ball dealing 80 damage and lowering the target's Special Defense by one stage.
Umbreon is a Dark-Type. After Tickle, it can use its powerful Dark-Type moves.
Or use something like Confuse Ray, causing the target to become confused.
Slyveon is a Fairy-Type. After Tickle, it can use its powerful Fairy-Type moves.
Or use something like Magical Leaf, dealing 60 damage and ignoring changes to the Accuracy and Evasion stats.
Flareon is a Fire-Type. After Tickle, it can use its powerful Fire-Type moves. Or use something like Smog, dealing 30 damage and has a 40% chance of poisoning the target.
Leafeon is a Grass-Type. After Tickle, it can use its powerful Grass-Type moves. Or use something like Aerial Ace, dealing 60 damage and ignores changes to the Accuracy and Evasion stats.
