Don’t mess with the power of Mewtwo…

Mega Evolution dominated in Kalos, Z-Crystals reigned in Alola, and the Dynamax phenomenon was the creme de la creme in Galar. When it comes to Pokémon battles in Paldea, Terraforming is where it's at!

After obtaining the Tera Orb from Nemona, players will have the option to Terrastalize their Pokemon. This brings a whole new level of power to the game.

Terrastallizing your Pokemon changes to its Tera Type in battle so players should choose wisely. Tera Typings increase STAB by 1.5x and get a 2x boost when a Tera of their Typing.

Playing with friends is so much fun as you have many different filters to take pictures with friends, catch Pokemon together (even version exclusive Pokemon), take part in Tera Raid battles and so much more.

Ahh..the nostalgia…

With all the new Pokemon introduced, as well as the modifications to certain Pokemon’s typings (like with Smoliv being of Grass and Normal typing), it can be a bit overwhelming. But luckily in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, there are Pokemon from older versions to keep the nostalgia alive!

Players get to start off the game with their choosing out of 3 all new starters, Sprigatito, Quaxley and Krokodile. Along the way, you will find old and new Pokemon alike.

For new players you get to experience the magic of getting to play with older and newer Pokemon alike with fresh eyes.

And for players of the earlier generations, this is the start of a new and exciting journey!

Whatever your background may be, this game will surely not leave you disappointed.

4.  Vitamins, Potions and PokeBalls….Oh My

Give me your tera shards!!!

Throughout the Paldea region players can find various resources scattered about. Unlike generations before Scarlet and Violet, held items and other resources were a bit hard to come by. But in this generation of Pokemon, there are boundless treasures to find as you scour the land!

Taking the time to pick up items off the terrain will save you lots of time and money trying to obtain items. But doing so will let you spend your money wisely on Choice Items and Sandwich Ingredients.

3. Secret Treasures!

Treasures galore!!!

Upon entering the cave (you can't fly in, you have to go to Lab 4 and enter there), you will see a room in the small middle of the cave between the second platform and third platform where the spiral ramp leads to large rooms.

Once entering the middle room, there’s a small ramp to your right that leads to a crystal blocking the room.

To open the crystal you have to go back to the small room, run up the ramp to get to the third room. Then run through the tunnel and just as you enter, jump to the top right of the cave toward a crystal sticking out from the wall. Behind it is an entrance to a course to get to Garchomp.

On the second crystal pillar, make sure to go all the way to the top of the pillar to get another TM. Jump from there to the exit of the tunnel and a level 80 Garchomp is waiting inside.

You will have to now defeat him and then the cutscene will begin to destroy the crystal.

Come back to the room above to reap your rewards of Area Zero!

2. Avoid Unnecessary Pokemon and Trainer Battles

Noooo not another one…

Players can avoid the unnecessary Trainer and Pokemon battles every 5 steps, and have now been thankfully eliminated from the game!!! (The Pokemon can still attack you if you don't run.)

This is a HUGE relief to many players as these battles are oftentimes annoying to deal with, and doesn’t allow players the option to choose when to go into battle.

After a mighty fight with the trainers you meet on the way, you may want to heal your Pokemon at the nearest Pokecenter before another one pops up along the way.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is a major breakthrough in the PokeUniverse, giving players just another reason to love this game!

1. Shiny Hunting Became ALOT Easier

Check out the cool designs of these shinies!!!

From the 2nd Generation to the 5th Generation of Pokemon, the shiny hunting rate is 1 in 8192. Pokemon X and Y signaled the rate change of shinies to 1 out of 4096.

In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, there are more unique and fun routes to getting a shiny Pokemon than ever before!!!

You can use any of the methods below to go after the apple of your eye!

  • In the Wild
  • Mass Outbreaks
  • Breeding Using the Masada Method
  • Completing the Pokedex
  • Shiny Sandwiches
  • Through the Surprise Trade Feature
  • Academy Special Meal

In Sword and Shield players got to experience large open areas, and in Arceus, players got to roam and experience vast explorable areas.

In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, players of older generations finally get the open world concept and freedom to choose trainer battles instead of being bombarded along the journey.

But this game doesn’t just bring the long awaited open world concept, but it gives players a huge amount of variety in obtaining resources, choosing your journey in no particular order, and the many added design elements of the game, like more player customization and camera effects. This Pokemon Playground will keep you entertained for days!!!

With all of these marvelous additions, why not give this plentiful open world a shot? Are you up to the challenge of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?
