Hylos, the Grand Warden, is a formidable four-legged tank hero in the game, renowned for his exceptional durability and crowd-control abilities. As a well-rounded hero, he excels in team fights and effectively engages the enemy team. He brings a whole new level of tankiness in the table with his innate high HP stat.

Best utilized as a tank hero; his skills allow him to disrupt enemy positions by doing pokes, bush checks, crowd controls, and using his ultimate to pave the path for his team to rise above the enemy. Enemies better not make a wrong move around Hylos and expect to be punished with his wrath.

Strengths:

  • High base HP
  • High sustainability
  • Can provide crowd control
  • Reliable chase skill
  • Good initiator
  • Deals continuous damage
  • Can use life as mana

Weaknesses

  • High mana dependence
  • Slow regular movement speed
  • Crowd control vulnerable
  • Skill 2 drains mana and HP fast
  • Item dependent
  • No burst damage

3. Jungle

Although not the most usual build used on Hylos, this is effective for many reasons. The build still utilizes defense items that maximize Hylos' durability. By using the Enchanted Talisman as an early-game item, Jungle Hylos can benefit from his passive that provides additional HP based on maxed mana. Pair this up with Clock of Destiny, and you're all set with the damaged items. The rest of the items shall be focused on defense to keep Hylos alive while he casts CCs and magic damage.

This build is terrific since Hylos' natural tankiness allows him to engage and initiate in team fights even without his team.

Use this build if:

  • You need a tanky jungler
  • Assigned to the Jungle role
  • Want to obliterate squishy enemies
  • Need an initiator in the team
  • Need a hero that serves as a soaker for enemy damage

Try this against utility junglers like Balmond, Aldous, Baxia and high burst damage heroes like Saber.

Choose your skill as follows:

Level 1: Skill 1 - Law and Order: Damage | CC

Level 2: Skill 2 -  Ring of Punishment: CC | Damage

Level 4: Skill 3 - Glorious Pathwalk : Speed UP | HEAL

Passive: Thickened Blood -  Increased HP based on equipment mana

Emblem: Of course, the best emblem for this kit is the Jungle emblem.    Equip Seasoned Hunter talent for a higher chance in stealing jungle objectives and reduced damage from the Lord or Turtle. Equip 3 talent points to Brutal: extra monster damage and Knowledge: battle spell reduction to increase efficiency when jungling.

Build for Hylos assigned to the sidelines. This build combines defense and magic damage items, allowing Hylos to hold off enemies trying to take his lane. Hylos can adjust his play depending on the opponent using a hybrid build. An aggressive play is possible with weaker opponents and a more defensive stance against high-damage heroes.

This build perfectly complements Hylos’ high base HP so a bit of item dedicated to damage will not affect his tankiness. By dedicating a portion of his itemization to enhance his damage potential, he becomes an even more fearsome force to reckon with. This unconventional approach amplifies Hylos' versatility, transforming him into a well-rounded unit to use in the side lanes.

Use this build when:

  • You are a designated side laner
  • Need additional damage for the team
  • Want to play aggressively
  • Want to contribute pokes in team fights
  • Need to fast clear waves

If your enemies are heroes like Xborg, Benedetta, Alpha, and Chou, this build will hold them off your lane. You can taunt and bait them to use their skills, and let your team gank them down. Otherwise, your damage-dealing items can also help you take them down even when solo in your lane.

Choose your skills as follows:

Level 1: Skill 1 - Law and Order: Damage | CC

Level 2: Skill 2 -  Ring of Punishment: CC | Damage

Level 4: Skill 3 - Glorious Pathwalk : Speed UP | HEAL

Passive: Thickened Blood -  Increased HP based on equipment mana

Emblem: Tank emblem with Tenacity for increased defense whenever in critical health. Vitality and Inspire is an excellent addition to this emblem kit by providing extra HP and CD reduction, improving Hylos’s overall tankiness. The CD reduction maximizes his ultimate and first skill CC.
