10. Shadow Priest

Image
Body Image
Shadow priests start off our list at number 10. While they don’t provide as much damage as pretty much all the classes on this list, they do bring a ton of utility to Mythic+ groups. This is extremely valuable during certain weekly affixes and down the road, when the difficulty of Mythic+ dungeons being completed gets higher and higher, this valuable utility is sought after to trim valuable seconds off the clock.

5 Best Mythic+ Spells:

  • Power Infusion: Strong 2-minute cooldown that increases your target’s haste by 25% for 20 seconds. Cooldown can be reduced by talents to make this available very frequently.
  • Power Word: Fortitude: Increases stamina by 5% for everyone in your party, which gets stronger and stronger has stamina increases with gear.
  • Vampiric Embrace: 2-minute cooldown that causes you to heal all allies for 50% of your single target damage. Pop this when you need to help out your healer and pump into a target while keeping your allies health up.
  • Mind Soothe: Pacifies an area reducing the range that mobs will aggro to you. Can be necessary to skip some trash packs and speed up the dungeon run.
  • Mass Dispel: Removes all magic effects from your party members and potentially 1 buff from up to 5 enemy targets. In certain situations is an amazing spell.

Highest Ranked Player: Nataleya ‹Consequence› @ Stormrage (US) (raider.io)

9. Frost Mage

Image
Body Image

Frost Mage is another class with middle-of-the-road damage capabilities but strong utility. They have a great AoE slowing ability to help kite during pulls, and they have plenty of interrupts to deal with caster mobs. They also have incredible survivability and group buffs that are essential to high-level Mythic+ dungeon runs. This makes up for their damage and much like Shadow Priests will likely be more valued the deeper into the expansion we go.

5 Best Mythic+ Spells:

  • Frigid Winds: All of your snare effects reduce the targets movement speed by an additional 10%. Considering how many snares and slows mages have access to, this is a very powerful ability that helps tanks with big pulls.
  • Greater Invisibility: Makes you invisible and untargetable for 20 seconds. This can be used very creatively for dungeon skips.
  • Blink: Another simple spell that is very versatile. It can be used to gain distance from enemies or get closer. Because of their ability to distance with this spell, and their slowing effects like Blizzard, Frost Nova, and Cone of Cold, you can help pull trash packs. Or even kite trash packs while your teammates run by to do some interesting skips. This simple spell can be huge.
  • Frozen Orb: Your big AoE damage on a 1-minute cooldown that also slows the targets it hits by 30%.
  • Alter Time: 1-minute cooldown that returns you to the location you cast it at after 10 seconds. Another simple spell that if mastered can open up incredible pathing opportunities through Mythic+ dungeons.

Highest Ranked Player: Glowie ‹Tony Halme Pro Skater› @ Stormreaver (EU) (raider.io)

8. Demonology Warlock

Image
Body Image

Demonology Warlocks are the highest DPS ranged class that you can bring to a group. They do lag behind many of their melee counterparts, but they have great survivability and solid utility. Thanks to talents such as Soul Leech and Demon Skin, they are able to consistently heal themselves through the damage done which means that the healer doesn’t have to worry about concentrating on them so much. This is great for affixes or dungeons that have high AoE damage.

5 Best Mythic+ Spells:

  • Demonic Gateway: Creates two portals that act as a teleportation gateway for each player once every 1.5 minutes. Can be used creatively to skip trash packs and decrease the time taken to complete the dungeon.
  • Soulstone: Much like the Demonic Gateway spell, this is a very versatile spell and if used creatively enough can make a massive difference in how fast you complete a dungeon. It allows a player to instantly be able to resurrect where their body was. Using it strategically can save a Mythic+ run.
  • Dark Pact: A 1-minute cooldown that sacrifices 20% of your current health to create a 200% increased shield, which is also scales with your spellpower. Can be used to protect yourself in many different situations.
  • Grimoire of Synergy: Has a chance to either have you increase your pet’s damage by 5% or your pets to increase your damage by 5%.
  • Gul’dan’s Ambition: When your nether portal ends, you summon a Pit Lord that does scaling damage based on how many demons you summoned during the portal duration. Big damage.

Highest Ranked Player: Sjele ‹Method› @ Twisting Nether (EU) (raider.io)

7. Enhancement Shaman

Image
Body Image
Enhancement Shamans have always maintained some sort of relevance since Bloodlust was introduced in the game in The Burning Crusade expansion. This is the most powerful group cooldown available and is essential to any high-level Mythic+ runs. Enhancement shamans are ranked so high on this list because they are the highest damage-dealing class that has the Bloodlust ability, making them extremely valuable to groups. And that damage is extremely high right now so there is very little downside to bringing one. They do bring strong utility through their low-cooldown interrupts and stuns; however, their survivability is not great, featuring only one strong defensive cooldown. This prevents them from Enhancement Shaman’s being higher on the list.

5 Best Mythic+ Spells:

  • Bloodlust: The big, fun button. Increase Haste by 30% for all party members resulting in a massive damage increase. 5-minute cooldown and pretty much essential for any high-keystone Mythic+ run.
  • Wind Shear: A 12-second cooldown interrupt that is great for interrupting caster mobs.
  • Windfury Totem: Most effective when used in a melee group, this provides your party members with a 20% chance to generate an extra main hand attack each swing. Considering how strong melee is right now this totem is very strong.
  • Capacitor Totem: After 2 seconds this totem pulses an AoE stun that lasts 3 seconds. Learning how to get strong use out of this can be very valuable when helping tanks kite or bursting down large trash packs.
  • Feral Spirit: A big damage spell on a 1.5-minute cooldown, this spell summons two wolves to aid you that pump out damage and increase your maelstrom generation, as well as adding physical damage to each attack.
  • Ancestral Guidance: Powerful 2-minute cooldown that converts 25% of the damage you’ve done over 10 seconds into healing for your party members. Excellent for pulls that are tough for your healer.

Highest Ranked Player: Lagarø @ Twisting Nether (EU) (raider.io)

6. Retribution Paladin

Image
Body Image
Retribution Paladin is another high damage-dealing class with weak survivability. Their burst damage is excellent, so focusing on high-priority mobs is very easy. Their AoE is pretty solid, however, it’s mostly through the spell Consecration, which requires mobs to be stationary. This can make it useless if the tank is kiting large packs of mobs consistently. Paladins, in general, bring a lot of utility to groups so that is another bonus, however, their defensive abilities are weak. They do have the ability for fairly strong self-healing, however, they only have one strong cooldown, Divine Shield, which can be cast once every 5 minutes.

5 Best Mythic+ Spells:

  • Judgment: One of your main spells to generate Holy Power and deal damage. It also functions as a multiplier for other spells making it the most important damaging spell in your normal rotation.
  • Divine Toll: Your big damage spell, a 1-minute cooldown that casts 5 Judgements on up to 5 targets.
  • Divine Steed: The only real mobility spell you have, this allows you to mount up indoors and while in combat for 3 seconds. You need this to keep up with fast-moving dungeon groups.
  • Wake of Ashes: An AoE frontal cone ability that does a lot of damage and slows enemies by 50%. On a 45-second cooldown and also has the additional effect of stunning Demon and Undead enemies which has a niche use.
  • Lay on Hands: The classic “Oh shit” button, this heals a target for 100% of their health which can save the tank on a big pull or if something goes wrong. 10-minute cooldown.

Highest Ranked Player: Qrva ‹Die Gummibärenbande› @ Blackmoore (DE) (raider.io)

5. Feral Druid

Image
Body Image
Feral Druids are excellent DPS, have good utility, and average survivability, putting them at the halfway point on our list. Particularly in AoE pulls, the changes made to how Feral Druids apply their bleeds, mean that in consistent pulls over 2 mobs, they will easily be competing for the top damage slot on the meters. They have good utility, but it does have to be specced into so it depends on the group composition and the strategy for the dungeon, but it is available, and they have solid off-heals/self-healing. There are a few solid defensive abilities that place them ahead of some of their damage-dealing peers, like the Retribution Paladin and Enhancement Shaman, and make them the first in our top 5.

5 Best Mythic+ Spells:

  • Primal Wrath: The key to Ferals’ AoE spec, this applies your finishing move Rip to all nearby targets. While it doesn’t last as long as Rip, this will surely have you topping the charts on AoE pulls.
  • Astral Influence: This increases the range of all your abilities, directly buffing Primal Wrath to hit more targets as well as other important AoE spells such as Brutal Slash or Thrash. It’s even useful on single target damage fights as you can avoid some mechanics because you’re able to hit the target from further away.
  • Ursol’s Vortex/Mass Entanglement: You must choose between one of these, but they function as the same thing, which is to root large groups into place for a few seconds. Excellent to help your tank gather up mobs without taking damage, and both on short cooldowns.
  • Stampeding Roar: 2-minute cooldown that buffs all your party members with a 60% movement speed cooldown for 8 seconds. Can combine with an AoE stealth provided by a rogue for example to facilitate creative paths through dungeons.
  • Bloodtalons: Casting 3 different combo point-generating abilities provides a buff for your next two Rips or Ferocious Bites to deal 25%. Create this buff and then use Primal Wrath to apply big Rip damage across whole packs of mobs.

Highest Ranked Player: Tuomaskoo @ Stormreaver (EU) (raider.io)

4. Windwalker Monk

Image
Body Image
Windalkers aren’t looking great in Dragonflight. They have strong defensive abilities, are arguably the most versatile CC with a high skill cap, and very high upfront damage. They are great at bursting down trash packs and are incredibly mobile, which helps them keep up with fast pace pulling. Ring of Peace can be used in tons of ways and is a very creative spell that rewards outside-the-box thinking. As Mythic+ dungeons get higher and higher throughout the expansion, this creativity is what sets dungeon groups apart and will shave the most time off of runs. They have excellent defensive options, for both Magic and Physical damage that they can consistently rotate through with very little gaps because of the low cooldowns.

5 Best Mythic+ Spells:

  • Touch of Karma: Low cooldown, 1.5 minutes, that absorbs all damage taken for 10 seconds and then redirects for 70% of the damage as Nature damage. If done correctly, it not only is a huge defensive ability, but it can cause massive damage as well.
  • Ring of Peace: Forms a ring that knocks enemies back and prevents them from entering for 5 seconds. 45-second cooldown. A very versatile spell that has a huge number of uses in each dungeon.
  • Tiger’s Lust: A spell that increases your target’s movement speed by 70% for 6 seconds and is only a 30-second cooldown. This is great for getting your teammates, especially your tank, out of a tricky spot during a pull.
  • Storm, Earth, and Fire: A 1.5-minute cooldown, this splits your character into 3 spirits. You control one while the other two mimic your spells for massive extra damage. Great for single-target or AoE damage.
  • Roll: A simple one but this talent allows your character to roll a short distance and is the key to Monks incredible mobility which is highly valued the higher Mythic+ keystones you are doing.

Highet Ranked Player: Strawjr ‹Northern Sky› @ Blackhand (DE) (raider.io)

3. Subtlety Rogue

Image
Body Image
Though overshadowed by their Outlaw counterparts, Subtlety damage is no joke. Their burst is higher, which is helpful for trash pulling and is still very competitive over long periods. They have similar utility and defensives as Outlaw Rouges which is to say, very strong. If Outlaw gets nerfed, or if you just want to switch it up, then Subtlety is still one of the best choices to bring to a Mythic+ dungeon group.

5 Best Mythic+ Spells:

  • Shuriken Storm: A strong AoE combo builder that also reduces movement speed by 50% for 8 seconds. It’s good damage and can help slow targets when tanks are kiting.
  • Crimson Vial: Heals you for 20% of your maximum health over 4 seconds. 30-second cooldown. Very powerful self-heal on a short cooldown. Can be increased with additional talents.
  •  Echoing Reprimand: Applies an Anima charge from 2-5. When a finisher is used with the same number of combo points as the anima charge, it functions as if 7 combo points were used. A little tricky to master but can be a massive damage spike on a 45-second cooldown.
  • Shadow Dance: The signature move of Subtlety, this allows all Stealth spells to be used while out of stealth, including all their amplifiers. Short cooldown that can be talented into to add a second charge to the spell and it’s only on a 1-minute cooldown.
  • Shroud of Concealment: 6-minute cooldown but it is an AoE stealth for your whole group for 15 seconds. Can be used very creatively to avoid difficult pulls or manage shortcuts through dungeons. A super versatile spell.

Highest Ranked Player: Raizromega ‹BDGG› @ Illidan (US) (raider.io)

2. Outlaw Rogue

Image
Body Image
Outlaw Rogues are definitely going to be seen in almost all high Mythic+ dungeon groups. Although their damage is target-capped, the cap is set at 8 thanks to the Dancing Steel talent. In the current meta, there are very few pulls done over that number anyway so it’s currently not an issue. They have incredibly strong sustained DPS. Their utility is through the roof, and they have excellent defensive abilities. All this put together equals a class with no discernable weaknesses in the current meta, and a top 2 DPS class.

5 Best Mythic+ Spells:

  • Restless Blades: Your finishing moves reduce the cooldown of many main rogue abilities by 1 second per combo point spent. This allows constant cooldown reduction and for a super smooth rotation that is consistent and has low cooldowns.
  • Roll the Dice: Probably the most difficult part of Outlaw Rogue to master for newer players, it provides a random combat bonus for 30 seconds, and is only on a 45-second cooldown. These bonuses include combo point generation, extra attacks, energy regen, crit chance, and more and it is possible to get more than 1 at a time, although it feels very rare.
  • Crimson Vile: Heals you for 20% of your maximum health over 4 seconds. 30-second cooldown. Very powerful self-heal on a short cooldown. Can be increased with additional talents.
  • Atrophic Poison: A poison that has a chance to reduce the target’s damage done by 3%. Over the course of full dungeons, this adds up tremendously.
  • Shroud of Concealment: 6-minute cooldown but it is an AoE stealth for your whole group for 15 seconds. Can be used very creatively to avoid difficult pulls or manage shortcuts through dungeons. A super versatile spell.

Highest Ranked Player: Casualaddict ‹Wiping As Intended› @ Draenor (EU) (raider.io)

1. Havoc Demon Hunter

Image
Body Image
Of course, at the top, are Demon Hunters. With massive damage, and incredible survivability this class is almost a must for any Mythic+ dungeon groups that are pushing cutting-edge keystone difficulty. Their DPS is not tied to large cooldowns and is maintained through constant combat meaning they are always pumping out high damage. They have passive damage reduction, self-healing, and stuns that make them very difficult to kill. Their utility is pretty average but when you consider how mobile they are, how much damage they do, and how much survivability they have, it doesn’t really matter. The current kings of the meta, Demon Hunters.

5 Best Mythic+ Spells:

  • Immolation Aura: Their #1 source of damage, both for AoE and single target. Not tied to any large cooldown or anything so the damage is very consistent.
  • Blur: Great defensive ability that increases dodge by 50% and reduces damage taken by 20% for 10 seconds - 1minute cooldown
  • Darkness: 8-yard radius: friendly targets have 20% chance to avoid all damage taken for 8 seconds. Excellent to drop on your tank for big pulls or when high burst damage is incoming. 5-minute cooldown.
  • Chaos Nova: AoE stun on a 1-minute cooldown. Use on caster mob packs to help them gather around the tank.

The Hunt: Big burst damage that also leaves a DoT effect on the target and roots them in place. 1.5-minute cooldown.

Highest Ranked Player: Hawkedh ‹OPEK› @ Twisting Nether (EU) (raider.io)
