The world of Ivalice has as many useful accessories, and given the game’s unique ability to let players to freely switch equipment during battle, nearly every accessory has a use depending on the tide of battle. While that’s certainly helpful, there are definitely trinkets that stand out, either for the stats they offer or their unique effects. Below are the best accessories and the easiest ways to obtain them!

10. Diamond Armlet

How to obtain:

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age - Where to find the Diamond Armlet

Though not as effective as it was to its original Final Fantasy XII counterpart, the Diamond Armlet offers ways to obtain some of the accessories in this list via chests instead, allowing you to obtain multiple! It’s also incredibly easy to obtain this accessory early on.

Aside from granting an immunity to Lightning elemental damage, the Diamond Armlet increases the odds that the character opening the chest obtains rare loot. It’s helpful in certain instances of opening chests on the Cerobi Steppe, in Trial Mode, or when trying to obtain the ultimate secret weapons.

It’s important to note that it turns most regular chest loot into Knots of Rust or Meteorites, so unless the player is aiming for them, it’s best not to use this accessory much.

Diamond Armlet strengths:

  • The only way to obtain certain exceedingly rare items from chests
  • Grants immunity to Lightning.

9. Sage’s Ring

How to obtain:

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age PC - How to Get Sage's Ring Easily

Before attempting to obtain the Sage’s Ring this way, players should make sure they’ve spoken to the Huntmaster in Phon Coast and defeated Thalassinon to start the rare game sidequest.

The Sage’s Ring has the unique ability to halve the MP cost of any spell. Putting this on any character that uses magic often essentially gives them an unlimited MP pool!

Furthermore, it also absorbs the Holy element, giving you the ability to be healed from Holy damage. Aside from the spell itself, this enables the wearer to heal with items like Holy Motes or weapons that deal Holy damage.

The Bone Mail or Bone Helm ordinarily makes the wearer weak to Holy, but equipping one of them alongside the Sage’s Ring will let the wearer absorb double the amount instead!

Sage’s Ring strengths:

  • Near unlimited MP for the wearer
  • Absorbs Holy, useful for the Ultima fight
  • Turns Bone Mail and Bone Helm’s weakness into a strength

8. Turtleshell Choker

How to obtain:

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age - Cast with Gil instead of MP (Turtleshell Choker)

The Turtleshell Choker is a very interesting accessory, because it lets the wearer cast magic with Gil instead of MP! This means that players can completely negate the need to use MP whatsoever.

Its formula is 10 x (MP Cost x 1.28) and rounds to the nearest 10ths place. As an example, the spell Fira costs 16 MP, so using the aforementioned formula would make the spell cost 200 Gil instead (10 x 16 x 1.28 = 204.8 rounded down to 200).

Aside from the relatively cheap spell costs, this allows players to prevail in longer fights easily as there’s no consequence to MP.

Combining this accessory with someone else wearing the Cat-ear Hood—which turns LP into Gil—essentially removes the Gil cost altogether!

Turtleshell Choker strengths:

  • MP draining abilities like Fear are negated by this accessory
  • Removes the need to rely on MP restorative actions like Charge or Ethers

7. Bubble Belt

How to obtain

Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age | BUBBLE BELT | Accessory Guide (Tips and Tricks)

The Bubble Belt is an immensely useful accessory that not only blocks Disease, but more importantly bestows the wearer with the Bubble buff, doubling their max HP so long as they have it equipped.

This item’s simplicity is its best strength, as equipping an accessory that bestows a permanent status effect means that it can’t be erased by attacks or spells that remove player buffs like Dispel or Dispelga. This is particularly important for a buff that directly increases survivability like Bubble does.

It’s worth noting that even though the in-game UI shows 9999 as the maximum HP a character can have, it can actually exceed that number.

Bubble Belt strengths:

  • Bypasses the need to keep casting the Bubble spell
  • Blocks disease
  • Bubble effect can’t be dispelled from enemies

6. Ribbon

How to obtain

Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age - RIBBON FARMING (FF12 Using Trial Mode to Get Ribbons Guide)

While the series-renown Ribbon is an amazing piece of equipment, it’s also rather hard to obtain naturally. It’s recommended to use the Trial mode method referenced in the above video to minimize the time spent trying to obtain one.

The Ribbon does what it’s always done in Final Fantasy games; making the wearer immune to many status ailments! While there are some that it doesn’t block (Berserk, Stone, Instant Death and X-Zone), they’re rare or controllable enough to not worry much about.

Additionally, not only does it come with Defense and Magick Resist +1, but also auto-Regen and Libra, very handy!

Since it grants immunities to so many status ailments, this unfortunately includes Lure, granted by the spell Decoy. Using Ribbons on tanking characters may not synergize well because of this.

Ribbon strengths:

  • Grants immunity to nearly every status ailment
  • Auto-regen grants lots of survivability

5. Hermes Sandals

How to obtain

Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age | HERMES SANDALS | Accessory Guide (Tips and Tricks)

Simple yet effective, the Hermes Sandals are another recurring powerful Final Fantasy accessory. Aside from offering a handy +5 Strength, they bestow the user with a permanent Haste effect.

A faster CT charge is one of the most potent ways to increase a character’s effectiveness, so wearing these can improve a character’s average action amount drastically.

Hermes Sandals strengths:

  • Grants indirect immunity to Slow
  • Removes the need to cast Haste

4. Germinas Boots

How to obtain

PS4 Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Where to Find Germinas Boots

The Germinas Boots are powerful, but require some knowledge to utilize well. Aside from their immunity to Immobilize, they don’t seem like much, but offer a massive +50 Speed and +20 Vitality, making them extremely useful for certain weapon damage formulas.

The high Vitality works well with axes, hammers and bombs, while the Speed is effective for daggers, ninja swords and bows.

These are best suited to wear on a Shikari or Archer, who use Speed in their damage formulas the most, and thus will see the greatest damage increases.

Germinas Boots’ strengths:

  • Grants immunity to Immobilize
  • Best accessory for increasing damage when using daggers, ninja swords or bows.

3. Genji Gloves

How to obtain

Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age How to Find GILGAMESH Hunt Part 1 (Battle On The Big Bridge)

These gloves increase the wearer’s combo rate by 1.8x, with the combo rate depending on both the weapon equipped and remaining character HP, enabling them to deal massive amounts of damage in a very short time!

Genji Gloves are highly effective with weapons that have naturally high combo rates like poles, ninja swords and katana, but can work with any melee weapon. It doesn’t work with any of the ranged weapons, rods or measures, so using another accessory is recommended for those instead.

They also offer Magick Power +3, making them something of a birth right for the Bushi job.

Genji Glove strengths:

  • The best DPS potential based on combo rate

2. Nihopalaoa

How to obtain

Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age - HOW TO GET NIHOPALAOA - Very Useful Accessory (TUTORIAL GUIDE)

This accessory reverses the effects of any restorative item used by the wearer. Potions will deal damage, Echo Herbs will inflict Silence, and Phoenix Downs will kill enemies in 1 hit.

What makes this accessory particularly useful is the game’s ability to let you use items on enemies. So when combined with Remedies and characters that have Remedy Lores, they’ll rain down every status ailment an enemy isn’t immune to. A fantastic way to start any battle!

Just be careful when using items on a character wearing this as it’s easy to forget and accidentally start debuffing allies! For this reason, it’s recommended to turn off any item-based gambits, and swap the Nihopalaoa out as soon as the player is finished using items.

Nihopalaoa strengths:

  • Capable of inflicting many status ailments at once
  • Cheap and effective way to debuff enemies

1. Thief’s Cuffs

How to obtain

Final Fantasy XII Zodiac Age. Thief Cuffs Early! Increase Steal success rate!

The Thief’s Cuffs are probably one of the most common yet crucial accessories that the player will be equipping due to its unique nature to amplify Steal dramatically. Steal is often the only way to obtain very important loot, particularly from bosses and hunts as they’re one-time encounters. One notable example of this is the Genji equipment from the Gilgamesh battles.

The cuffs will allow the user to steal multiple items at once, meaning there’s less of a need to continue trying! They also offer Speed +1, a small, but helpful boost to characters that use speed-based weapons.

Thief’s Cuffs strengths:

  • Drastically improves chances of stealing rare loot
  • The only way to obtain some items from enemies and bosses
