10. Diem

While rather new to the Overwatch League, having been recruited last year, Min Sung “Diem” Bae is no stranger to competitive Overwatch. Arguably one of the best Hitscan players in China, Diem is best known for his Widowmaker and McCree.

He plays for the Shanghai Dragons, a team that in its inaugural season was easily the worst in the league. The Dragons hoped to turn their legacy around with the recruitment of Diem as well as players “Gamsu” and “Envy.” Despite this, the team ended up in the bottom four at the end of the 2019 Season. Shanghai fans can only hope for a better season in 2020. 

Interesting Facts About Diem: 

  • Diem has a special friendship with Carpe of Philadelphia Fusion, they often would play 1v1s both as Widowmaker to out snipe each other. 
  • Diem came up with his name with Carpe after they discovered the popular latin idiom “carpe diem” which means “seize the day.”
  • Diem played for the team “Lucky Future Zenith” in the 2018 Overwatch Contenders: China season. Funny enough, the entire team was composed of South Korean players.

9. SoOn

Known affectionately as “The French DPS God”, Terence “SoOn” Tarlier is indeed french and does plays DPS. He fittingly plays for Paris Eternal in the Overwatch League. When he’s not playing Zarya; Sombra, and Widowmaker are his bread and butter. He takes immense pride in being able to represent France on the world stage.. 

Before the addition of Paris Eternal to the OWL in 2019, SoOn played for the Los Angeles Valiant where he helped propel the team to a runner-up position at the end of the season. While those results could not be duplicated in 2019 with Paris Eternal, SoOn is still an asset to the team and is poised to do well in 2020. 

Interesting Facts About SoOn:

  • Soon once admitted he mained Junkrat before his competitive career. 
  • He used the word “adventure” to describe his life up to now in an interview with Intel Gaming.
  • Soon has said he also plays Player’s Unknown Battlegrounds, but would not do so competitively.

8. Babybay

Andrej “babybay” Francity plays in the Overwatch League with Atlanta Reign. He is best known for his Reaper, which has been known to demolish opponents with ease. Once considered a breakout star of the Overwatch League, he is now an established player that is to be feared. 

Originally a part of San Fransisco Shock, Babybay has been with the OWL since day one. He transferred to the Atlanta Reign the next year. With Babybay on Team Reign again in 2020, it certainly looks good for the team going into the next season.  

Interesting Facts About Babybay:

  • In 2018, the “Babybay Challenge” became an internet trend that originated from the player’s Instagram.
  • He is a former Crossfire professional player.
  • Controversially, he used to play Counter Strike: Global Offensive, but was banned for cheating.

7. Corey

Corey Nigra, simply known as “Corey” online, is a 20 year old Hitscan for the Washington Justice of the Overwatch League. Like many players on this list, he is notorious for his Widowmaker and McCree. Corey entered the league in 2019, but has played competitive Overwatch since 2017. Before the OWL, he competed in weekly tournaments in the USA. 

In an interview with Watchpoint, he admitted that being on stage while playing brought upon a lot of nerves from him and his team. Despite this, he is still one of the most formidable DPS’ to play against, especially as his experience grows. 

Interesting Facts About Corey:

  • His favorite flavor of ice cream is Mint Chocolate Chip
  • He celebrated winning the Overwatch World Cup with a steak dinner.
  • He has admitted that his favorite team to watch in his free time is London Spitfire.

6. Decay

Gui-un Jang, otherwise known as “Decay” is a flex DPS player for Dallas Fuel of the Overwatch League. He was born February 27, 2001 in South Korea. Being a flex dps, he is well versed in both hitscan and projectile heroes, and is known for his Genji and Tracer. 

He joined the team in 2019 and will be playing his first season with the team this year. With Taimou being retired now, Decay is easily the best DPS on Dallas Fuel.

Interesting Facts About Decay:

  • Decay played for the Los Angeles Gladiators in the 2018 season.
  • His OWL Rank with Genji is #5.
  • When asked what super power he would choose, he said he would go with teleportation. Too bad he doesn’t play Reaper.

5. DDing

Yang Jin-hyeok, known as “DDing” in esports, is a flex DPS of the Shanghai Dragons. While the Dragons themselves aren’t a great team, that doesn't speak for the skill of its DPS players, especially in the case of DDing. 

Maining Pharah and Sombra, his aggressive gameplay shows his confidence as a competitor.

He was born on November 23, 1999 in South Korea. Like most competitors in Overwatch, he is young, but his skill more than makes up for it.

  • Just like most of his peers, he used to play in the Contenders League for Overwatch. 
  • He is ranked #4 in the OWL with Pharah
  • He is also ranked #6 in the OWL with Sombra

4. Happy

Lee-Jung “Happy” Woo, is a Hitscan DPS for the Guangzhou Charge. His best heroes are Zarya, Hanzo, and Widowmaker. 

He plays a precise role in his team, picking off opponents with snipes to give his team a lead. When he was new to the OWL, you could say his first games were filled with nerves, but as those nerves eased out Happy became a better and better player. 

Interesting Facts About Happy:

  • His Hanzo is ranked #5 in OWL
  • True to his name, Happy has been said to be an optimistic person in real life.
  • At one point, Happy went by the username “Vesta”

3. Profit

Park Joon-yeong, known online as “Profit” plays for the Overwatch League’s Seoul Dynasty after having spent two years with London Spitfire. From his beginnings with Spitfire to now,, Profit has always been a force to be reckoned with. His quick plays with Tracer often leave his opponents not knowing what happened.

Profit won the first Overwatch League Championship with London Spitfire in 2018, an experience he said was “indescribable.” Easily one of the best players in the league, Profit certainly earns with his gameplay.

  • His Zarya and Mei are ranked #4 in the OWL
  • His name is to be taken to mean the same as the literal word “profit.”

2. Carpe

Jae-hyeok "Carpe" Lee plays for the Philadelphia Fusion as a Hitscan DPS. He is best known for his McCree and Widowmaker. 

He was the first OWL player to reach 4000 final blows. He often picks out opponents with Widowmaker, leaving the opposing team with disadvantage from the start. Such a skilled  player must make anyone who faces him worried.

  • His Bastion is ranked #1 in the OWL.
  • He is best friends with player “Diem” as described earlier on this list.
  • He has said he would be a speed skater if it wasn't for his success in competitive Overwatch.

Jay “Sinatraa” Won has a fitting last name as he won the 2019 OWL playoffs last year. He is a player for San Fransisco Shock, and ranks as one of if not the best players in the world. 

While rumors say he will be moving onto Valorant, Riot Games’ new FPS, he is still a tremendous esports athlete with huge potential going forward in his career. He goes in our #1 spot because of his sheer determination and skill level. Congrats Sinatraa.

  • He made an appearance on The Tonight Show after his 2019 playoffs win.
