Scout rifles. There are many of them in Destiny 2, but which ones are worth using? Since the release of Destiny 2 scout rifles have been categorized as some of the worst weapons to use.

However, there are some that rise above the others. In this article I will be listing my top five scout rifles in all of Destiny 2.

1. MIDA Multi-Tool

MIDA Multi-Tool is a returning D1 exotic weapon. It was pretty great before and has only gotten better since. With the ability to constantly see the radar and its unique pairing with the submachine gun, MIDA Mini-Tool, MIDA Multi-Tool is easily one of the better scout rifles in the game.

The MIDA Multi-Tool perk allows for greater speed while the weapon is equipped. Pair this with MIDA Mini-Tool that possesses the perk MIDA Synergy and you’ll find an extremely fast Guardian running around in whatever game mode they choose. MIDA Radar also comes in handy as it shows the radar even when aiming down sights, making it easy to watch corners in the Crucible.

What Makes This Weapon Awesome:

  • Increased speed
  • MIDA Mini-Tool pairing
  • Fast reload
  • Great handling
  • Large magazine

2. Transfiguration

Transfiguration is the Last Wish raid scout rifle. This rifle has an ahamkara and Dreaming City design that reflects the nature and location of the raid. Randomly dropped during the raid, this weapon is not an uncommon sight in both PvP and PvE.

Transfiguration is a legendary weapon, so it drops for Guardians with a random set of perks. Its stats do give it a decent magazine size as well as high impact and long range. It’s best used when standing still and aiming down sights with its High Impact Frame as well as having improved handling and reload speed.

Why This Weapon Is Awesome:

  • Raid weapon
  • High impact
  • Long Range

3. Polaris Lance

The exotic weapon of the Warmind DLC for Destiny 2. This weapon can only be acquired by completing an exotic quest over several weeks. This is the weapon of Ana Bray and can be seen in the trailers for the DLC. There are a couple of legendary weapons that “turn into” an exotic, and Polaris Lance is one of them with BrayTech RWP MK. II as its legendary.

Polaris Lance features Perfect Fifth, a perk that returns precision shots to the magazine as well as adding an explosive solar shot after four precision shots in a row. Zen Moment increases stability when causing damage. These two perks make Polaris Lance a highly stable, ammo refilling, and damaging rifle.

What Makes This Weapon Awesome:

  • Returned ammo
  • Explosive shot
  • High Stability
  • High Impact
  • Long range

4. Nameless Midnight

The Vanguard scout rifle. A common sight among Guardians, especially those who enjoy Vanguard Strikes and Nightfalls. Getting it from Commander Zavala doesn’t mean that it is only viable in PvE as many Guardians are using it successfully in the Crucible.

Nameless Midnight can roll with many different perks, but the best seems to be Explosive Payload. Precision Frame makes the recoil more predictable and allows for quick precise shots on the enemy. Flared Magwell allows for an extremely fast reload speed that makes this weapon dangerous.

Why This Weapon Is Awesome:

  • Predictable recoil
  • Fast reload
  • Large magazine
  • Increased handling

5. Jade Rabbit

Jade Rabbit was a D1 exclusive exotic for the PS3 and PS4 players. I was recently looking through a list of D1 exotics and was surprised to see it on there. The Jade Rabbit features a popular Destiny icon on its magazine that almost every Guardian would recognize. The JAde Rabbit is available to every Guardian through random drops.

High impact, range, and stability make for a decent scout rifle, but add The Fate Of All Fools perk makes the Jade Rabbit something special. It allows for body shots to make the next precision shot more damaging. That might not sound like much, but I can personally say that this is a beast in the Crucible. It’s pretty easy to shoot someone in the chest, and when the stability raises the aim towards the head it is obvious how this perk can go a long way.

What Makes This Weapon Awesome:

  • Excellent stability
  • The Fate Of All Fools perk
  • Zen Moment
  • High impact
  • Long Range
