Apex Legends: How To Play Revenant Effectively

Apex Legends: How To Play Revenant Effectively

Revenant is one of the most underused legends in the game and for good reason. Sadly, Revenant doesn't seem to have a place in the current way Apex Legends is played, but that's all about to change.

This character is about to be completely changed or buffed in some way, but we don't exactly know how. In his current state though, he either needs a phenomenal player behind him or some great tips to improve your gameplay.

Revenant is an Assault legend, meaning he has access to the Assault passive. This passive allows Revenant and other Assault legends to open a secret compartment on loot bins to get more attachments for his team and even some more ammo.

Speaking of ammo, Assault legends can also carry more ammo per stack in their inventory.

Revenant's passive is the ability to wall climb faster and 6 times as far as normal players. This means Rev can scale buildings super quick to get a jump on his enemies or reposition for a better sightline.

The other part of his passive is that his crouch-walking speed is the same as his walking speed, meaning he can sneak around much quicker than other legends. One extra part of his passive is that he can technically climb shorter walls 25% quicker as the deceleration doesn't kick in as fast on him.

Next is Revenant's tactical ability, which is a grenade he can fire out. This grenade has a pretty large radius and does two things. First of all, it does a little bit of damage, not much but enough to possibly down someone who is low or even crack someone.

Next, it has a silence effect, meaning whoever is hit by the grenade cannot use any of their abilities. This lasts for 15 seconds and is devastating to some ability-reliant legends like Octane or Wraith.

Finally is Revenant’s ultimate ability, the reason why he doesn't do too well in the current state of the game. Revenant’s ultimate allows him to place down a death totem. This totem allows anyone who touches it to go into a shadow realm, where they have another life.

Players have no shields in here, only health and are sent back to the totem if they die. This sounds great on paper, but if you don't die, you stay around half-health, making you an easy kill.

There’s so much wrong with Revenant, it's hard to cover it all. From his massive hitbox to his lack of actual movement. He can be effective though in certain situations and with the right tips in your mind. One great way to make Revenant more effective is to pair him up with movement legends like Octane to get him around the map faster.

Now that you know how Revenant works and his issues, let's discuss the ways to get the most out of him and play him effectively.

How To Play Revenant Effectively:

15. A Walking Fridge

Revenant has a pretty large hitbox, especially when compared to most other legends in the game. He also does not have access to the Fortified passive, so with that large hitbox he is still taking full damage. Play with this in mind, and use as much cover to your advantage as possible.

14. Movement technique

Movement Techniques are a huge part of Apex Legends, no matter how much movement you have access to on your legend. Make sure to get good at tap strafing, super glides and wall bounces as they will take your gameplay to the next level and allow you to play your legend as effectively as possible.

13. Game sense and positioning

Revenant isn't a great legend, so knowing the game like the back of your hand is key. You need to understand how each legend works, how to use all guns and how to play the game well basically. I'm saying you need to be good at the game, so get good to play Revenant as effectively as possible.

12. Good aim

Speaking of game sense, aim is key to any legend. The thing about Revenant though is that aim is even more important because of how easy he is to kill. Revenant has no real movement and is a massive body to hit, so killing your enemy before they kill you is the key to success.

11. Know the maps for wall climbs

One of the most underutilised aspects of Revenant is his wall climbing passive. More people need to use this technique and the best way to do so is to learn each map. You need to know all the locations for the best wall climbs and how to traverse them to get a better angle of your enemy.

10. Play your angles

Like I've already said, Angles are Revenants best friend. Because of his wall climbing, Revenant can quickly get to spots no other legend can. Use this to your advantage and catch enemies off guard with your weird positions over them.

9. World’s Edge is a robot’s best friend

The best map by far for Revenant is World’s Edge, the map he released on. This is because all of the buildings, structures and rocks seem like they were designed with him in mind. Even after its many reworks, World’s Edge is fantastic for Revenant and allows him to play to his strengths more than any other map.

8. Revenant strafing tech

Revenant’s speed doesn't change between crouching and walking, so crouch strafing is perfect for him to avoid shots and kill his enemies before they kill him. Use a sort of crouch spam movement like a Call of Duty player to avoid shots and play better.

7. Movement Techniques

Movement Techniques are a huge part of Apex Legends, no matter how much movement you have access to on your legend. Make sure to get good at tap strafing, super glides and wall bounces as they will take your gameplay to the next level and allow you to play your legend as effectively as possible.

6. Loadout Options

Just like any other Legend, I recommend using an assault rifle like the R-301 or even the Volt SMG for medium to long range, then having an R-99 or Peacekeeper for those close-range engagements. It's better to be prepared for every situation.

5. Engage the fight with a silence

Revenant’s silence is one of the best abilities in the game as players can't use their abilities and tend to panic when it hits them. This thing is a flashbang as well, so players are extremely disoriented when hit. Use this ability when you enter a fight as then the enemy has no chance against you.

4. Stick near buildings

You want to be near buildings as much as possible with Revenant for a few reasons. The main reason though is because all of your abilities are most optimal in and around them. You can wall climb to change positions or gank your enemies, you can place the totem down in cover and you can silence anyone who enters your space. It's just perfect for this sad robot man.

3. Use your tactical whilst reloading

Revenant can use his tactical whilst reloading his guns. This is fantastic for catching enemies off guard who wait for your reload. They will think you are vulnerable, but your tactical is ready to stop them in their tracks.

2. Totem is for pushing and defending buildings

The Totem just isn't a good ability, so the rule most Revenant players have is to only use it for pushing and defending buildings. This is because you have covered all around you to avoid being killed instantly or someone destroying that totem.

Pushing a building is more optimal with the Totem as you can get in, kill an enemy or two and then be recalled back if things go awry.

1. Don't get caught out in the open

Finally, the most important tip for Revenant and how to play him as effectively as possible is never to get caught out in the open. You always want to be near cover, and buildings if possible. A Revenant caught out in the open is like a Deer in headlights, it won't end well.
